machined B16 crank pulley - VS - ctr crank pulley-- dampener differences?
my B16 pulley is in good condition, i am thinking about having the ac and power steering sections machined off and balanced, while the motor is being balanced. interested to hear reviews on machined pulleys, preferably on balanced motors. thanks.
I recommend you speak or do this all w/ the same shop.... if done properly, I don't see why that wouldn't work.... but then again... I'm not an engine designer.
Depending on how much this would cost I would just tell you to get he UR Ultra R pulley because I love it, but you better not because then no one on here will like you and you will be haunted by the little gremlins that come out of it and destroy your motor while you are sleeping.

Bahahah... I'm sorry, but that was too funny

It depends on you motor hp,rpm-the higher means more vibration. You need to have "beef" for the pulley to dampen the vibration..

i think the ctr pulley is the only option besides stock. why else do all factory race teams use ctr pulleys? and not only with hondas, but all other manufacturers use their lightest factory pulley.

juts a quick note: i just had my sir-g crank pulley lightened and according to the machine shop the a/c step has to remain in order to keep the rubber piece in place...the orig weight was like 8lbs now it weights less than 6 lbs
dont know wot improvements this makes but it'll be interesting to see after my block is finished...i did this 'cose the side of it was craked and i wont run p/s and a/c either...but its nice to know that if i want a/c i can still use my oem c/p.
just thought i shared my own experience

REALLY?
huh.
On my oem GSR crank pulley I removed both un-necessary belt pulleys and kept the alternator pulley only. the rubber reamined in tact on that one remaining pulley and the pulley balanced very well. I also had my entire rotating assembly balanced and the car runs like a champ and starts up in a split second every time.
The lightened to one belt oem pulley weighed HALF of stock... about 6 pounds came down to 3 pounds. But that is still heavy as hell compared to an unorthodox aluminum pulley... which weighs under one pound!
