Default The big JDM question.

If everyone thinks that JDM is cooler than the US OEM parts... Why does Acura/Honda make different models? I mean, if Type R guys spend thousands of dollars getting JDM parts, what is the point of making US parts if JDM is cooler?

I wonder if the Japanese market wants US parts because it makes their R unique, or if they think the US OEM stuff sucks

Japanese market, i'd think that hondas are like nothing there....S14's, Skylines, evo's, surpas, Rx-7.....racing GT races....i think thats where the japs go....

and i like jdm for its cleanness....and its like an end to the looks department.....jdm body...jdm rims....and a carbon fiber hood is all im doing on my exterior....and just go all out on the engine....it gives me an ending point to my project...but its never gonna end.....

I agree with every word George just said. I've always said that the non-JDM front is much better-looking, and that the JDM front makes it look like an Accord or Nisan Silvia. Some people like JDM style because they think "oh that's the way the car was meant to be"...but when the G3 Integra first came out in Japan, it had the same front we do. but the Japanese reacted badly to it because it was such a departure from the previous model.

And, it doesnt make you go any faster. 3 Grand for something completely cosmetic? I know a lot of people on this board that would call that rice if they didn't have the JDM bug. What if the Japanese Integras came in polka dots and flames? Would we do that too just because it's JDM and everything JDM is better? I'm sure some people actually would.

Hey Ross I have the JDM Front and the flames are only an option on the RX model hehe

But seriously I would say its a 50/50 split half of the people want to make their car a little different but want to keep it stock or want high quality replacement pieces So they want JDM Honda parts, some people just want them because they are JDM, Some people don't even know what JDM stands for
Thats why you will notice if you type JDM on Ebay you get about a million items yet only maybe 100 are real parts from Japan.

And that my friend, is why I own a second Gen.

I believe the reason Honda didnt bring things like, Recaro seats, Momo wheel, 16 inch wheels and certain other cosmetic Items was merely a cost cutting measure and a matter of "american comfort". The average American want a sports car like the BMW M5 not like the Race base CTR. I for one have always thought the cosmetic items shold have been brought ashore as options to R buyers. The other cool JDM thing, Honda driving school when you purchase an R

Mike - yeah some people just like the way it looks, and it's hard to find fault with that. In my situation, getting it would be dumb because I could spend that money in the go-fast area and have it go much further...but when you have a ride like yours which is basically done to the fullest already, why not? you can't do very much else to that car in the way of speed, so at that point it's a fine mod for your money.

....and it certainly doesn't make it go any faster.
Now George, it's a matter of weight reduction. Less weight can make a car go faster.....hehe ....VIR....

And yes, it's a personal preference. I did the JDM F/E to set my R apart from others. Not only having a Championship White TYPE-R, the JDM F/E gave it that additional touch. I just LOVE the H.I.D.'s!!!! RIGHT GEORGE!!!!!

Thanks,
Victor Perri II

Everyone knows that JDM is cooler than the rest. Damn, Even Canadian is cooler than USDM. The USDM has to produce a line of parts because it has a whole different line of cars.

Bwahahahahaha... I laugh everytime I see this topic. I guess my RHD Japanese spec '94 Teg SiVTEC (GSR in english) is USDM or UKDM since it has 4 round headlights...
