Default tranny fluid leak after auto to manual conversion

I'm leaving my job and I spot my car parked way in the back of the parking lot, where I like it. Away from everyone else's car, and right underneath a bright shining light. I notice a puddle around my vehicle. I'm thinking okay, it was raining out all day but the closer I get to it I KNOW something is definitely wrong. TRANNY FLUID IS EVERYWHERE!!!!! I roll the car back a little bit and notice that it's leaking out from underneath the driveaxle seal. Now when I did the swap I had to go buy this one from Advance Auto Parts. It came new, and looked pretty solid. When I filled the tranny with fliud it started leaking because I put to much fluid in. Do you guys think the "over-fill" made my new seal faulty. Oh yeah, after I drained some of the fluid it stopped leaking. The conversion was done a couple of days ago and this is the first I've noticed any leaks. I don't know what else to do except further investigate it when I get my car. I had to leave it at work . Anybody else have any ideas about this??

Only place it will leak out of is the axle seal. Alot of times people will nick these trying to put the axle in or they are bad from sitting around at the junkyard. You really cant overfill a tranny because the minute it leaks you know its full. By "tranny fluid" im assumining you used 10/30 or honda mtf? May wanna take it home and investigate further..

it's definitely the seal!! i have a 99 y7 engine, and a 95 y8 tranny. I can't remeber if i ordered the axle seal for the engine or tranny?? which one should i order it for?? wouldn't they be the same anyway? my axles are from the 99 y7 as well.

how could the axle "knick" the axle seal and cause it to leak like this. it's leaking pretty slowly,so i suppose it's not that bad

It's real easy to damage the axle seals removing and installing the axles, if your not careful. (Sometime even if you are.)
