How can I lower the S2000's wight?
I just want to reach the 1000kgr with my S2000 or something. I have many ideas such as replace all the door plastics with a thinner cover, or replacing all the interior parts except the dashboard, or all together. I inspired by the c-west interior and I really liked it. Have you got any other ideas? Has anyone do that before me? I would like to see some pics.

sure you can spend thousands of bucks for CF parts, but if you really want the car to lighten up and go really fast, then do something like this:

and this

This is the only way that you will really feel a difference in the weight.
No, its not drivable on the street, but you could if you could tolerate it. that particular S2000 weighs approximately 2300#'s with a CF Mugen hardtop, gas and 18x9/18x10" 3 piece wheels and slicks. but real slicks, not r-comps even reduce the weight.
if you are going for sheer street performance, you can reduce weight by removing non-essential crap, and buying an oddessey battery. (not honda oddessey, but the company/battery maker).

I don't know exactly, it's around 1200 kgr as Honda says. -- That's very good, but it destroys the interior feeling, but it must be very light! And what the hell happens if start raining while I'm driving?? I should get the hardtop huh? Thanks for the pics...
removal of the softtop mechanics and frame is pretty important for lightening. It all depends on how far you want to go though. Just keep taking things out. Also replacing everything you can with carbon fiber helps. lexan windows, lighter wheels, and all that help. Replacing rotating mass is the most important. So lighter wheels, lighter flywheel, crank gear, cam gears, pulleys, remove AC, things like that is always good as well.

all the above is true ... but in the end you have to decide whether you want a faster/lighter S2K or do you want a more comfortable everyday car?? ... it's all up to you ... in the pic above, that guy is obviously serious about getting the most performance out of his S2K ... his car should be much quicker in every aspect after taking out (approx) 500 lbs from the stock weight!! ...
just wondering, has the one in the picture done any 1/4 miles in that lightened S2K?? ... what are the times??

no, its a race car, not a strip car. there's no interest in doing any 0-60 or 1/4 mile times for the car at all. there are two cars, and they weigh within 100lbs. of each other. the one that is more weighty has a comptech SC. they'd estimate them to be high 12's, maybe low 13's. but again, this is with full slicks 18x10's in the rear that are there for grip around corners, not out of the hole.

It's probably not worth it to remove the interior.. you pretty much kill your resale value, and it's just not nice to drive anymore.. Lowering rotational driveline mass will be more effective. Lighter rims, etc etc..
Thanks! I was looking for that car for months! I had first seen it at HHU forum. I love that car. But he has done a wrong. He "cleared" completely the interior, so he has lost huge weight, and then he put the OEM hardtp which is very heavy, and a lot of huge roll-bars. So finally he has lost only a little weight. I would put the CF mugen top and smaller & fewer bars so I would be around 1980pounds with a few diet in other parts. So where can I find the CF MUGEN hardtop?
I beleive the class he races in does not allow him to use anything other than OEM body panels, which would include the hard top. His hood and trunk are painted black, they aren't carbon fiber. The roll cage is also a requirement for most all road races.

The OEM hardtop weighs a HUGE 10 pounds more then the Mugen (OEM top is 40 lbs).. I know becuse I had both. The Mugen top is not allowed in my racing class. The Mugen looks cooler but it is much easier to see out of the OEM which is a plus on the track. Roll cage is required, it weighs about 100 pounds, and I wouldnt trade it for anything. Your not going to get your car down to 1980 pounds.. trust me,
My car weighs 2499 pounds, stock weight is 2850 I think, so i saved 350 pounds.

It is ******* good. Listen: when you point somewhere with your (
)down to your window there is a bar that informs you what is the address that you point. In order to see some pictures of the S2000 AP1 go to the left of your screen and over the GTwing logo there is a
that points down. There select the S2000 AP1. Now If you want to see some crazy good videos of that car go to that black bar (up) and next to the "BBS" on the left there is a japanese phrase, and when you select it (without klick) A grey square will appear. Then choose "LABS". Then go to the white letters next to the black s2000 image which says:"2003/3/18&2003/3/19" If you click there you will see two tracks, AIDA and some other that I don't know. Select the type of the video that you want and don't select "save target as" just click there. I think help you!

There are two prototypes as I can understand. The first is 995 kgr (2189) and the cooler is that black that is 965kgr(2123). These projects have a hood that is 2.4kgr (5.28 in american system). A carbon door that is 3.9kgr.(All the door not the panels only) and a rear hood (I don't know the word) that is 1.7kgr. Also the interior is removed except the dashboard (like that toilet S2000), and instead of he heavy roll-cage there is a light one with carbon in some parts. To find that info, go:LABS again (there is a LABS under the GTWING logo, and instead of going top that white phrase, go under that, there are two black phrases. Go to the first one that says:
2003.1.16 セントラルサーキットにてBest Lap更新 .. Awesome car. I don't know how to get the parts for mine.

Oh okay, I don't think EFFECT's car has any carbon fiber and he acheived under 2500 (Correct me if I'm wrong EFFECT, but I remember reading that). If you did up the whole car, or at least hood/doors/trunk in carbon fiber I'm sure you could save a bit more.

Nope no CF on the race car.. You might be able to save another 50 pounds or so over mine with that CF stuff.. But then again if you have things like windows (my car has no side windows.. doors are gutted) you are going to add back some weight.. I can see getting the car down around 2200 or so but I sure as hell wouldnt race it, the thing would be a death trap

Oh I didn't know you ripped out the windows. Really makes me wonder about the < 2200 lbs claims. When you weighed yours, was it full up on all fluids? Did you modify your fuel tank at all?
