Default Mugen EP3 Suspension Package released

http://www.kingmotorsports.com...=1549

Not much info there, and what is there is cryptic.

If anyone can make sense out of those stats post the translation here, and any more details about adjustability, camber, etc, you can dig up.

theyre nonadjustable though.....just because it says Mugen on it doesnt always mean its the best....some may find it too stiff..some might find it too soft...for a setup like that they should sell it for 800$

Well, makes you wonder if it would be better to just go with some Konis, Ground Controls, and Eibach springs..

well if you look closely the Mugens arent a real coilover, rather a matched spring and damper set. They dont look to be dampening adjustable either. Where as the Koni are adjustable and the GCs are adjustable.

to get the spring rates into in/lbs multiply by 8.85

ep3 = 433F / 682R
rsx = 433F / 711R

how that relates to the rebound / compression % they list - somebody with more suspension knowlege will have to post !!

You do realize the travel issues inherent w/ a koni/GC setup and any lowering at all dont you?

While alot of mugen stuff may be overpriced for what it is - many of their products work superior to others on the market - note relocation of the tie rod attachment points.

Regarding the info being 'cryptic' what do you want? The spring rates, lowering and damping rates are there in plain text. Its only cryptic because you dont understand it. Hell i dont understand damping rates....

You damned well had better understand damping ratios since you (like me) had to sit through ISAT300

Oh I understand them fully. I did lots of development work w/ accoustic damping 2 summers ago and modeled them for print heads (fluid flow can be modeled as an accoustic).

Besides, i slept through that class anyways

But as far as shocks go... i just have not had enough exposure/experience and above all reading/research in the area. Soon though... its on my list of things I want to learn lots about. I want to build my own shox

RJ - who wants to drop way too much money on amazon.com for racer books

Just one more note on Mugen product. I talked with a guy at the track a month or so ago w/ a 5th gen prelude. He has an iceman intake (no mugen available), mugen header and mugen exhaust. With some VAFC tuning he picked up 28whp - or about 33 at the crank. I'd say thats a significant gain, 17% over stock.

Kinda funny how they say EP3 suspension has been in development for over 2 years of development...considering the Si came out in 02 in the US.

"After extensive development of ONE MILLION YEARS...Mugen is proud to announce the release...."

Note: The above comment is for cheap laughs...don't read into it too much and especially don't try to prove me wrong on some technicality of "it came out earlier in Japan." Just nod your head and smile.

yes i do realize the travel issues, i was mearly pointing out that the suspension is not a coilover type, just a spring and damper combo. and i was pointing out that you can adjust the ride height and dampening with the koni GC combo, i did not say that either was superior, just the features of both systems

I'm gonna have to add JIC-Magic to the list, too.

That was my way of saying, "I dont understand it" or, more exactly, I didnt have the time on hand to figure it out yet.

There's quite a buzz going around about KW suspensions package for the EP3. It's a full adjustable V2(?) coilover system made with real stainless steel, and it requires no modification to install. At $1200 these are at the top of my list with Tien Flex

Here's the KW site: http://www.kwsuspensions.com/

Here's an ephatch link with some more info and pictures: http://66.36.161.224/forum/sho...16327
