All of these stolen tegs...................

I don't know man, I keep seein all of these stolen teg posts all of the time, and I can't help but think that alot of the times, more could have been done to prevent these thefts. I've been living in the worst part of Philadelphia for 8 months and I'm very happy to say that my gs-r is still in my possesion.
I consider it quite a feat to keep a teg (especially a gs-r) in Philadelphia for more than 3 months. So I decided to share with you what I do to keep my car, and what alot of you guys should probably do.
Rule of thumb: If you have a teg, especially a gs-r, someone WILL try to steal it. just be ready for it.
1. Get a club. Theres no way around this one. I still have my teg, only because it had a club on the steering wheel when some dick tried to rape it. it took them so much time to try to cut through the club, that by the time they were half way through it, some one saw them, and they had to bolt.
2. Get an alarm. preferably one that pages you if your car is being tampered with. I got Autopage for 150 $, as an add on to my alarm system, and it has more than paid for itself. This will not guarantee you a secure car, but it will help.
3. When you leave your car, unplug your ignition wires. Theives are usually in a hurry, and will often time look over this small detail, which will not allow them to start the car.
4. Last, but definetely not least, DO NOT park your teg on a street over night. Every teg owner should have a garage. This probably the best security for your car. When you go to a public place, (mall etc.), park your car in a very visible place, as in right in front of the mall entrance.
To be continued......................

yeah ur teg has a better chance of being stolen if it was parked on the street over night. I've had the car for 2 years and never left it on the street overnight. I dont care what happens. If i do park it on the street, its gotta be in front not on another street. Screw the club, autolock has a better chance of keeping the car safe. Reroute ur hood release cable also. I got a LS, you guys with the gs-r watch out. They get stolen left and right.
What do you consider the worst part of Philadelphia?
I agree with you...anything that will make them take MORE time to do their job is going to deter them. There is no failsafe security device, but tons of them will make a thief take more time on your car, which is a bigger risk. Every second that thief is in the car, the chances of him taking it get less and less.
Pile it on ladies...autolock, club, alarm, fuel cut, ignition kill, ecu fuse, ignition wire, the ecu itself, etc...anything and everything you can get.
Still, nothing stops a tow truck unfortunately
Ive made a bunch of posts in the past with my recommendations, let me see if I can dig them up...

yea my dumbass even has a garage and it took me being lazy and parking in front of my house and my car getting broken into for me to realize I should park in the garage
to me
to me
Most of the cars today are being stolen by tow truck. With a tilt alarm sensor will that detect if the car is being raised onto a tow truck??? Cuz i'm about to invest a lot in security..
Yes, which is the worst part of Philly??????
I used to chain my CRX to a building when I lived in Boston (via the shipping hooks on the bottom).
I was at 15th and Mt. Vernon, pretty shady - and further north up broad street towards Erie was NUTS - but - west Philly is no picnic either....
Story time - I had an old Ford van which I used to use for work, with a tool box chained to the rear bench. Someone broke it, opened the tool box, used the tools inside the box to unbolt the rear seat that the tools were chained to, stole my cart for carrying them, and made their way up 15th. I applaud their method, but that's just 1 example of Filthadelphia theft.

i live in fl and the thefts out here are getting out of hand i think im going to go up state and get one of those boots that they put on the cars over there. lets see how they plan on taking it with a boot.
I totally agree with everything everyone has mentioned when it comes to security for ANY vehicle let alone a teg. However I know some people that have had the top notch this and that, but still had their vehicle stolen, stipped, whatever. It bascially comes to if the theif wants your car that bad....their gonna get it.
if they want your car... it will get taken. Stolen, vandalized, towed, whatnot.
Just know not to park in the same spots if its your daily driver.
And stay away from the kiddie areas and hangouts. I never take my teg to the movies, never to the park to play ball, and never to the mall. Dont go to a place where you are noticed and followed. yeah, hard to notice when youre busy enjoying the ride but its true. turn down the tunes when youre coming close to your house. the less attention the better.
The funny thing is, there's so many haters on H-T over rice this and rice that, its all trivial when your own ride, or someone's that you know is stolen.
Be smart and somewhat lucky and I think you'll do fine. Alarms and other deterents will help but as mentioned earlier, they wont stop a pro.

I agree with what alot of you guys are sayin. I mean for example, I drive home everyday, on a certain avenue, and everyday for the last 2 weeks I see the same black teg LS parked on the corner of one street. I once passed by at 11 pm, and I still saw the car there. Now there is a guy who is just dying to have his car taken. Any time I see a teg parked on a street for more than 1 hr at night, I shake my head. That owner better be checking on it every 15 minutes, or it WILL walk away.
I mean I'm just sayin, just remember, you have an Integra. You cannot afford to just leave your car anywhere like other people do with other cars (unless you have the money to just throw away on buying a new car). Its just a fact of life. If you are not comfortable with the risk of owning a teg, or if you are not up to checking on the car quite often, or paying considerable amounts of money for security, get rid of the teg and by another car, or it will get raped.
Last but not least, if you see someone in your car trying to steal it, DO NOT APPROACH THEM. Theives are pretty desperate little f*cks, and you never know if they are armed with a gun. Just call the police and keep an eye on it from a distance. Good luck to you guys and be safe. hate seeing stolen teg posts; they get me so pissed, and I really hope I dont see anymore. Peace.
Almost forgot.....NewGSRdriver and 96IntegraRS, when I said the worst part of Philly I was referring to what people call the badlands (North Philly around 5th st. and Hunting Park). This area is full of the 2poor2furious, and they will stop at nothing to take what you have instead of working for their own. It sucks living here, and im ready to get the hell out !

Yeah... Just use mercury tilt sensors as your hood and trunk pins, it will detect the hood or trunk opening or the actual car tilting

its sad to own any modified honda/acura at this point
its horrible that owners have to live in fear. cant drive to the movies or the mall and feel safe. find yourself always asking your girl or your friends to drive you around instead.
but thats the truth you can be a victim at anytime anyday. once you are caught slipping its over.
my 2000 bone stock Si was stolen with the ECU pulled out, a club, and an autolock device during the daytime in my driveway on a semi busy suburban street. nothing will stop thieves, although there are many dumb ones, theres enough "thieve enthusiasts" who know what they are doing ---who know what they want--- and are just as prepared as you are to get it.
with nj and ny running rampid with thieves, i can almost say i cant wait to get enough money and get outta of the honda/acura game and get me something i dont have to stress about 24/7.
gluck all

1 club cut thru steering wheel and leave the club on the floor as a souvenir
shift lock $200.
2 car alarm have a man stand by battery and disconnect while you rig the alarm
back up battery and hide alarm on passenger side
x tra cut off switch that you hold down while you start car.
pager will work as well
disconect or relocate hood release cable and add hood locks.
3 plug wire they will try but the car wont start to much of a hassle
tap into distributor and create a cut off switch.
4 parking tegg on the street if they really want it they will take it with tow truck
some of us dont have homes and park on streets, so try to keep a low
profile ex
no tint remove any signs of v tec and try not to get attention
boot!!! its a good one but just know to keep nothing inside car
like gages or v tec controllers..

For added theft prevention, you can have AIR HORNS hooked up to your existing alarm system. They only cost like 20-25 bucks at your nearest auto parts store, and they are way louder than regular horns. You can probably install them yourself, or have 'em put in for cheap. I know these are good, cause everytime mine go off, they wake up half the people who live on my block.
the original owner of my car parked it on the streets of berkeley for... 7-8 years. my 95 gsr. it was stolen once like the year she got it new and was recoverd and never stolen again. the only security on it is the lock

- try explaining to your insurance adjuster that you had cams, pistons, i/h/e, suspension and ask if they will cover that *sidenote: and if you do tell them in advance that you have some modifications that you want insured, plan for your insurance rate to take a hike in all ways
- it takes you a while to build your car up to your standards and replacing it with another car dosent solve anything to some people
- downtime while waiting for an insurance check wont help if you have a full time job or attend school full time
-your insurance prem. will also go up
just to name a few

my alarm wont let the car start at all unless opened with the remote, it can be a pain at times, but my teg is still with me
Alarms are false sense of security nowadays if you park the car anywhere outside even for an hour. They'll take it if they want with a two truck
Friend of mine has an alarm, club, GPS and parks in the garage behind a gated community. It's worth it since he spend $15,000 in mods and two other car he owns. Layering is the best but if the car is exposed outside then you're still very vunerable...
