Default What to look for in a good condition short block???

I just bought a z6 shortblock (edit: bareblock) for building and wanted to know from the experts, what exactly should i look for to see if my block is still in good condition. Regular wear, cylinder wall condition, mating surfaces, etc. Please fill me in on this because this will be my first project. Head is OTW as well
Here are a few pix of how it looks (still in box)

Uplifting information is greatly appreciated

thats what i was gonna say

bare block = what you got
short block = complete block (pistons/rods/crank, oil pan maybe, other little parts)
long block = complete block and head.
