Default Type R motor with Skunk Stage 2???

I know this guy and his setup is JDM ITR motor, AEM CAI, JDM 4-2-1 with 2.5 collector, custom made exhaust with no cat, exedy clutch, V-AFC, Skunk2 stage 2 cams, retainers, valve springs. His car put 197.3 to the wheels.I havent seen the dyno plot but is this possible with just those mods alone? There is no PnP or aftermarket pistons only what i listed.

That seems high to you guys? Huh. I see ITR's get deep in the 180's with just a Hytech or SMSP headerback. I've seen stock interal ITR's break 190 and Skunk2 stage 1 as well as TODA A's break 200whp. I'd satisfied with those numbers for that set-up, but it needs more compression to get the full potential from those cams.

Yea it dide seem a little high but i wasnt sure or not thats why i posted it.It makes me wonder if my setup will exceed his since i have a better header,Ported head and higher compression.

Every motor, tuner, dyno is different, so there's no set number for any motor. I've seen more than one dyno plot, with bolt on's and a set of cams making around 200, sometimes more. For example, friends Jspec ITR w/bolt ons, test pipe, Toda B's makes 206 peak hp, w/137tq, and has a very torquey curve, a blast to drive, even daily. The passing power on the freeway is incredible.

well if you ran that setup B18C5 I/H/E VAFC, Skunk2 Stage 2 cams and adjustable cam gears would you need valve springs and retainers or would the factory ITR ones do just fine?

I would upgrade the valvesprings/retainers, those cams are pretty big, and OEM's not going to hold up.

im a few ponies shy of that w/ stock cams and a SMS header. UNTUNED with stock intake and just a sms header i dynoed at 187hp/125 tq..since then i've added cam gears and have been tuned, and gained a few more, its in the 190's but we are gonna try to break 200 w stock motor.

With cams i plan to be well over 200whp. Its possible, with a better header he can cash in on some more power. I honestly would be mad if i ended up with only 197 on stage 2 cams.

Every motor is different, even with identical upgrades

All dyno's have diffnumbers
I know of 4 dynojets with in 20 miles from me that read
13hp difference A dyno is a good tool for baseline testing
I did a head for a customer his car dynoed 160WHP
The car ran 12.50 on street tires
well anyways I hope u see my point

Now the question is if 4 of your local dynos read different HP on the same car, which dyno is giving out the right #'s?

the crossdrilled brembos since they weigh less than stock add about 10horse in the highend cuz of drivetrain loss
