Cruise control problem, took to dealer and they never saw it happen... :(
I just took my car to the dealer to claim warranty service on my intermittant cruise control problem.
The problem is that my cruise control doesn't always engage. Sometimes it works perfect and other times, it refuses to engage and the lamp on my instrument panel doesn't light.
I've checked the fuses and everything seems fine. The light on the cruise control button works fine. I've also tried keeping the speed very steady before I engage it, but sometimes it just doesn't kick in.
Maybe I don't know how to use cruise control on my 5 speed. Let me know if you guys have any tips.

how many mph are you going before engaging it, or attempting to engage it rather.
What i do is, get up to speed, click the Cruise buttom on my left. then set it with the buttons on the steering wheel. let go of the gas and just sit back and steer, and occasionally pass people with the gas, or the buttons
Oh yeah, did you press the button on the dash?

Yep, I do it just like you said and it just doesn't engage sometimes. The Acura service guy drove my car for 15 miles and said it worked 100% for him. Unitl I can figure this thing out, I'm at a loss.
i had the same freaking problem ... its just like how you described it - i checked the fuses and everything but couldn't find anything wrong.
the problem was rampant for a while but lately its been working except for a little delay, like a second or so before cruise kicks in.
btw, what year is your car?

Before you engage cruise control, are you making sure the cruise control light in green is on inside the gauge cluster before you hit set accel? And before cruise control will engage, your feet cannot be touching any of the 3 pedals.. not even the gas accelerator.. if you've tried all of the above then i'm sorry i don't know what to tell you
Oh yeah, an aftermarket CD player will disable your steering wheel controls including the cruise control buttons.. except for a select few like alpine i think

I don't think aftermarket stereos interfere with cruise controll. I have had a clarion head unit for years now and my cruise control worked fine all thoe years until now. My car is a 92 and I have been experiencing the same problem for the last couple of weeks.Oh well, I din't use cruise control often any way, too much traffic. I would like to find out what is wrong though.
yea, i have a aftermarket hu, cruise is perfect. I think you have to be going atleast 35mph to have it activate... maybe 25mph.
1-Push the circular cruise button
2-Use the thumb lever to choose your speed and activate the cruise control.
(then you should see a green Cruise Control light come up on your gauge cluster)
and any other thing you do, brake, clutch will kill the cruise.

I used to hang around the audio/electronics board on h/a.net a while back.. all the mods said most aftermarket HUs will disable the steering wheel controls.. ?? My 2 friends put in an aftermarket HU in their integras and their cruise control doesn't work anymore.. but that's what i've seen so far.
