The ITR at Lowes for the 'summer shootout' series.
The one on one spectator races started back up this evening.
The rain sucked but the Legend cars ran in it with out missing a beat.
I was owned in the first round by a all wheel drive Talon/Eclipse.
4x4 + blower = no match for my madd skillz.
Lining up for the one lap shootout.
On the close side of the lap zooming by.
Just past the finish line... a few lenghts back of the other car.

Heading on back to the pits.
Last year = owned by a Syclone... this year by a AWD Eclipse.

I made it to the finals and came in 2nd last night.
The weather was nasty again last night (
)... and traction was a issue.
Cars that were entered:
-Acura
-Super Coupe (T-bird)
-Talon (beat me last time)
-Grand Am (Nos!)
-Firebird
-Mustang (red)
-Syclone (won the trophy last year)
-Mustang (black)
-Mustang (orange) (beat me last year at the dirt track)
-Ford LTD (hit the wall last night!)
I was paired up with the SC T-bird and beat him off of the line.
and won the first round.
I was then paired up with the Talon who beat me last time and lost to him.
They were taking times and held the losers and let the 'fast looser' run again since there were 10 cars (vs. 8). I had the fastest looser time (daym that sounds funny) and was paired up with the orange Mustang (who beat the LTD). It was a show down from the dirt track event.
I snuck away from him at the line and was able to hold him off till the finish.
The Syclone took out a bunch of barrels on his second run and I was paired up with his competition (red Mustang). He spun off of the line and is snuck out in front of him to make it to the finals.
The Talon launched hard off of the line
and I had to try and run him down. I caught him under braking at the first turn and stuck to him bumper all the way thru the turn. He took off exiting the corner and I had to chase him down once again. I swung wide going into the last turn with hopes of coming up the inside of him at the finish... but my plan did not work.
Last year Yack ran the Syclone in the finals and lost. I think the final race was shown on Fox Sports South. Speed Channel now shows the Legend races (got to meet Ralph Sheheen) and I think the spectator race I was in maybe shown on Speed!
I found this on the web.
The SPEED Channel broadcast will be taped and edited into a one-hour broadcast just as it was last year. I think everyone will agree that
it is now a much better program than it was live. The shows will begin airing in late November and will run in primetime, on both the east
and west coasts, for 10 consecutive weeks on the same night. They will also air again later that night and may also re-air over the
weekend. Your sponsors will now benefit in the summer and back-to-school seasons from on-site exposure here at LMS and in the
Thanksgiving, Christmas and after-Christmas seasons on SPEED Channel!
I will keep my eyes open and make a call to see 'if' it will be shown and when.

Capitalizing on the all-wheel-drive of his Eagle Talon, Shepherd claimed the 4-foot trophy in the Spectator Races. The Concord, N.C., resident sloshed through the nine-car field in a series of single-elimination runs as fans raced their personal street cars on the quarter-mile oval.
Shepherd’s Eagle sent a Pontiac Grand-Am and a Ford Mustang home before meeting the Acura driven by William Harris of Charlotte, N.C., in the finale. Shepherd got the jump at the green flag and held off a late charge by Harris. Donald Bond, winner of the season’s first Spectator event, saw his hopes of a repeat victory slip away when he slid off the track and crashed through the barrels during round two.
While I was there I signed up for the "shoot out" (ON THE DIRT TRACK) during the monster truck show next month.

I will have to drive back from VIR Sat. afternoon to make the 7:00pm drivers meeting... but I can do it.

I went last year with Willard, and it was great fun. I was suggesting that any other h-t folk in the region should stop by and check it out.
Besides, the moster trucks were bad-***, and the Jet Bus owned all.
