How do you "tune" an ALL Motor Hybrid?

My father said I'm not burning all my fuel as he can see light black smoke when I drive off. I've read a bunch of threads on the black smoke and it's been said numerous times that hondas are known to run rich. My father said I may need to get the motor "tuned". When I dropped the GSR in my Eg about 5k ago, I put new spark plugs, wires, dizzy / button, oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket.
What is done when an ALL-Motor Hybrid is tuned? Or is there not such a thing?
Thanks!

That is what I am asking. If I take it somewhere, what will they do to "tune" or do a check-up? I'm not one who likes to let others (shops I pay) to work on my car. They tend to over-charge and rip people off

well, if you take the car to a reputable shop in your area for tuning, you won't be getting "ripped off". I don't know where to tell you to go, but rest assured unless you have some extra cash to burn it'll be to your benifit to have someone tune the car for you.

I'm trying to figure out what the shop will do to "tune" my motor. Adjust the timing?

If you do not have some sort of engine management, other than the OEM ECU, there is not much "tuning" that can be done. Tuning usually involves adjusting cam gears and setting fuel pressure. If you don't have adjustable cam gears and an adjustable FPR, there ain't much to do.

I think you are reffering to a tune up. Not tuning your car. Just let everyone know what exactly you want to get done. I doubt that your dad is telling you to "tune" the car. Just get a tune up. Either way good luck.
Tune up- usually change oil, replace plugs/wires, adj, valve lash, check lube spots, check diagnostics, change timing belt (in needed)...
Tuning- adjust timing over ENTIRE RPM range, adjust fuel levels over RPM range, adjust cam gears/FPR/VTEC engagement point. Mostly this is done on a dyno where they can get the most HP and TQ for the motor.
Hope that gives you an idea of what you need to get done!

Good info! I've already given my GSR a tune-up, except the valve adjustment which I will be doing in July
Thanks for all the info!

What's your motor setup? If it's pretty much stock gsr motor in an EG with a P72 ecu, then there's not much tuning to be done. It runs stock from factory, and it's not worth trying to tune it for minimal mods.
If you got a bunch of bolt-on's, more compression, cams, etc..then you would want to invest in a Hondata system, and take it to a reputable shop with a dyno and hondata experience and pay them to tune it..
Hondata = $280
Tuning = $150.00/hr shouldn't take more than 1 hour.

That's my set-up
I may boost her next year, but for now no tuning for me
