need everybodys opinion. check it out
ok buying a 91 si civic hb.
i plan on putting in a B18C1 w/ a B16a cable 5 speed tranny.
what would you suggest i all do to the B18C1 ? want it to be fast but all reasonable with cost. id like to stick probably 5-6 grand into the engine by doing alot of small upgrades (turbo would be one big upgrade i will be doing) but also will change other internal parts as i get the money. so throw me some suggestions. going to be running on street tires. getting a nice coil over kit strut bars etc. ripping out and redoing the whole interior. only going to be 2 front seats in it. rest will be fiberglass/stereo in the back and redoing the whole dash so need all new gauges to. possibly redoing all the wiring on the engine also.
basically its a big project i plan on doing. dont know much about hondas so getting advice from all of you out there !!

Honestly I would concentrate on one, or the other. Putting a fast motor in a car and then negating it by installing a big heavy stereo is kinda pointless. If you want to go fast, good. If you want a little bit of stereo, thats allright. Just try to keep it as light as possible. I would recomend like a Kicker Solo-Baric L7 8" in the 1cu./ft. ported box. It is light and provides lots of bass. Keep it removable so you can take it out at the track. If what you really want is a phat azz stereo then don't waste money on an engine swap. I guess I'm trying to say you really can't have your cake, and eat it too. Unless you had two cars and did one in each. Thats my $.02
yeah its not going to be anything extreme. just 1-2 10" subs components and a deck. and it will be removable.(the subs) but i think when i rip everything out of it it will save alot of weight. and the 91 civic is already pretty light. need some weight in there to keep the wheels on the ground
ditto and stuff- for what CRXBart said. **** a damn stereo, they just get stolen. build an engine on the side, then impress da ladies. and don't forget to make it handle and stop, it's not all about going fast in a straight line
yeah. ive already got all the stereo stuff though. so its no biggy. stereo is just for cruisin at night. i plan on redoing EVERYTHING. the whole dash is getting ripped out getting all new gauges and everything. will be torn down to nothing when its repainted. and the whole thing will be getting painted in/out. the windows are getting taken out and everything. im going to build my own fiberglass dash kit unless i can find a decent dash somewhere to throw in it.
i have the $ for the motor mods. just dont want to do it all at once.
also found a guy selling a B18C1 locally. has a stage 3 clutchmasters clutch ? i think on it. and 60k miles but he wants 3500.

hmmm well does is that coming with the b16a tranny + mounts, etc. etc. because if it doesn't then thats a lot more money right there and your budget is getting smaller and smaller..
something to think of, if you know for a fact that you are going turbo and not any other way why not consider the b18b? you save one hell of a lot of money and from what i gathered they respond better to turbo being the lower compression
further $3500 seems sort of pricey for just a GSR swap, $2900 was mine installed with mounts, shift link, axles, b17 tranny, Clutch Specialties clutch, wiring, and chipped ecu...of course this may have been a once in a while deal but i really wouldn't pay anymore than $2500 for a GSR swap, and probably even less than that because you don't need the hydro tranny unless you want to convert to hydro.

if your gonna go turbo i would do an ls/turbo for sure... but if it was me i would keep it NA... im much more impressed when i see an all motor honda run 13's and lower other than a force inducted one... and that is cheap as hell for a gsr swap... i havent found anyplace selling the motor, tranny, axles, ecu, and wiring harness for less than 3000
... hopefully when i finally save up money for a swap, the cost of a gsr will greatly depreciate as the b16a did over the years

well ive been shopping around alot. cheapest i seen the GSR swap for was 2750(thats with everything). but i need to find out what tranny is with this one the local guy is selling. the guy @ the shop said hes been trying to sell it for a while so maybe he will go down a good amount in price. he said he just wants to get rid of it now.
im hoping he will go down to 2900 possibly heh. and no thats not w/ the motor mounts.

California is a blissful land of unlimited car parts as far as the eye can see, dirt cheap swaps, and rice more plentiful than that in the chinese countryside...
and i heard we have good cheese too.
