Those of you with JUN 3s, where do you have VTEC engage?
PM me if you dont want anyone to know you have JUN 3s
I currently have VTEC engage at 6200. Im using the AEM EMS ecu, and I can set VTEC to engage at a certain throttle%. So basically what I can do is control VTEC engagement with my foot, depending how much throttle I give it. Ive played around with it some, and it seems by my butt dyno that revving past the VTEC point without engaging VTEC, the low cam on the JUN 3s pulls extremely hard, seemingly harder than when VTEC engages on the bigger lobe. So Im really curious to know if anyone with the JUN 3s has VTEC set higher than I do. I would try to test my theory on my own by raising VTEC, but I dont have a wideband to tune the fuel if I moved VTEC any higher. Just curious.

When I had them, at 6K rpm's. On the dyno this spot had the best powerband. Graph was smooth and you could hardly even tell where vtec engaged.
OK cool. Im also kind of wondering if this means my motor might like smaller cams?? It currently makes and holds power all the way to 9500 so I know it likes top end but Im just curious if maybe this is an indication that it might like a smaller cam as well. Just playing with some ideas.
On my friend's car it crosses around 5500rpm.
JUN 3's with JUN pistons and JUN ECU.
No changes b/w the runs. Lots of variation b/w runs.

that chart reminds me a lot of how my car feels sometimes. very inconsistent. sometimes if feels like it pulls hard as hell, other times its like ummm where did the power go. I also need a valve adjustment so that might part of the problem. Im gonna do some experimenting tomorrow with my throttle% and see how hard the low cam pulls and for how long. You think I can damage the motor by doing this? I can basically set it so that VTEC doesnt engage at all and rev it to redline but I wont do it if it might cause a problem or damage something.

How do you figure they are essentially the same? The only similarity i see here is
the cams.

OK, to further add to this JUN 3 thread, what are your cam gears set at? We have messed around with mine a little on the dyno, but it seems the cams like to be set at 0 degrees for both intake and exhaust cam. Anyone else find that they dont like to be too far from 0? My tuner says that usually you dont have to do too much cam gear tuning with the JUN 3s and they typically like it around 0, 0.

I doubt you will have any damage running only the primaries all the way to the redline. The only reason for not doing so is because power will drop off much earlier in the powerband than if you were to engage VTEC.

Wait a minute...56250? 56,000 rpm? This was useless, we all know what you meant, but I just had to.
