Default OT : Is it safe to leave the R in a PARKING GARAGE for a few hours in Philly?

I don't feel like doing the extra walking/time by taking the Speedline to get to the city tonight. I rarely leave the car anywhere aside from wide open parking lots in Jersey, and that's mostly during the day. Call me paranoid, but are parking garages reputable when it comes to keeping cars from vandalism/theft? Any advice/experience would be appreciated. Thanks

Don't answer this guys questions...

The way I see it man, parking garages are dark and covered, so I would think that would make it EASIER to steal a car. I guess it depends on how regulated the garage is. I personally wouldn't take any chances...

It may sound dumb, but why not rent a car for one night??? Its only like 27 bucs to rent a car. That way you can park it anywhere, and even do a few neutral drops!!!

Trust you instinct. If you should ever feel that there is a risk of theft, then I would look into other transportation or storage for the car, even if its only for a few hours.

NO WAY, don't do it. My friend had two cars stolen from old city parking and another friends R was stolen from a South street garage.

Answer: No, especially after telling thousands of people (including many theives who roam on this board) that the car will be in a Philly garage tonight. Not smart.

I have returned and all is well. Parked in one of the upper floors with hardly a car in site. No scratches, dings, or missing items. And it only cost me 8 bucks. It was still kind of shady in there, with no one to collect the money (all computer operated), and no security or cameras in site. Oh well..

Cmon man, I can KIND OF understand everyone jumping on this guys nuts, but not smart to say hes in Philly? So what, a thief is going to roam the entire city, going in and out of every parking garage...who knows how many thousands, looking for an ITR he saw a guy say he was going to park in one for a couple hours? Hes better off sitting on a corner and waiting for one to pass by.

Glad to hear nothing happened...depending on the part of the city, I would rather not park my car anywhere here. This city is full of ********, if it doesnt get stolen chances are youll get a free bumper durability test.

The neutral drop part was a joke!!! The reason why I suggested a rental was because the chances of getting a rental stolen is slim!!! Even if it did get taken, who cares??? Its covered!!!

If hes just going into the city for one night, and doesn't want to take the bs or train, why not rent a car not only for the theft scare, but also so he doesn't have to take the R in the city.

Everyone around here who has a car in the shop, comes out and autocrosses the rental Sunfires

giving you a hard time man...rental would be nice and cheap if you're that afraid. If you're nervous, get one....but I am one that doesn't get nervous about car situations, so I'd say screw it

I live in a good town though

Do I think theives are going to start looking for it? No. Does that make it smart to post a question like his on the internet? NO. If I were to ask "is it safe to leave my car at the Metro station outside of DC," saying it will be there even without divulging the specific location only increases the chances of it being f'ed w/. It does nothing to decrease the chance that something will happen, so why in the world would one make such a post? It simply a matter of decreasing the odds of a problem as much as possible as opposed to increasing them. And if you think there was only "a thief" in the tri-state area that read that post, then to you.

My ITR sits in my driveway every night, unlocked, with the key in the ignition.
Good luck moving it though

Youre right dude, excuse me.

OK, my car is in a garage in Maryland somewhe...

Oops. ****. Now someone may find my car...I hope they dont go roaming the state of Maryland looking in every parking garage, they MAY just stumble across my car...

Why in the world would someone make this post? Hes asking about peoples experiences in Philadelphia parking garages. Thats all. If you think he increased the chance of it getting stolen by asking if its safe to park in a Philadelphia garage, then I guess he shouldnt drive the car around either...with that logic, all hes doing is increasing the chance someone sees it and follows him to steal it.

Whats next, no more posting pictures of peoples cars? How about listing modifications? With your logic, that attracts thieves and "increases the chance of theft" as well. God forbid someone talks about their Toda Cams and it says "Michigan" in their profile...thieves may go on a hunt through the state!

You're right, you got me. Although, by your logic, this thread should never have been created in the first place anyway. No need to even ask according to what you wrote. And by the way, let me know the next time someone follows you home at night and/or you have your car stolen. Both have happened to me. on me for driving it at all, right?
