Free CF rear-side window kit for 2nd gen crx to anyone in Salt Lake willing to test?
That's right. I am offering a free set of rear/side window panels to anyone who will let me use their car for R&D purposes. These will be water jet cut and fit perfectly. Email me if interested.
We will be offering window kits shortly for 88-91CRX and 92-95 Civic hatch racecars. I am in the proccess of putting some in my 1st gen rex. They are looking very good. I will post pics later this week. I will say these look better than lexan and are perfect for a drag car.

Yes, the test fitting I have done on my personal car looks great. Get rid of that heavy glass!

Just curious. did I understand that correctly? the Rear small window on the sides?
those barely weigh anything. I have done several CRX race cars and those glass pieces weight like 4 lbs. after awhile, we stopped taking them off since there wasnt really that much weight reduction.

Yes the rear side small windows on a CRX. Just an alternative to Lexan that looks better. On the 92-95 and EF the windows weigh more I'm sure. We will offer kits for them as well. Heck, if you wanted to get really crazy you could do the rear window as well. I will post pictures of my 1st gen in a few minutes.
Do something that will replace the rear hatch. like a CF hatch.
something that will be as lightweight as this:

OK, here are the pics of the prototype kit.

In the pictures you will notice I replaced the "B" pillar as well with a cf piece. I just did that on this first prototype. The B piller cover won't be included in the kit. This will give you a general idea of how it will look. The EF's and EG windows should be really easy since they bolt out. I will have to look closer at them. The first kit released will be the 88-91 crx.
EXO: We actually have the capability to do up to a 4ftx5ft piece for hatches. We can also make twill cf L brackets like the aluminum bracket on your pic. This would allow connecting two flat pieces to make the hatch.
I forgot to mention, the carbon looks the same on the inside of the car, perfect finish.

Umm... I pull on the door handle and it opens. It's magic.
What do you mean how do I open the door? What's stopping it from opening?
I promise, both doors open like stock.

So, this kit essentially replaces the rear windows (windows, meaning, you can look out of them) with carbon fibre pieces.
Why not just use cardboard? or balsa wood.
Be about as effective in removing rear-ward visibility.
and I was hoping this was a real alternative to the heavy glass

I guess you could use cardboard if you like the looks of that. I think cf looks better myself.
I don't think drag cars need to look behind them much.
We are making it for the 2nd gen crx because so many people drag race them.
Even in a street CRX, visibility isn't much of a problem since you can just about touch the rear end of the car from the driver seat. Also you already have a pretty big rear window to see whats behind. I bet lamborghini's owners have a hell of a time with their blind spot. I don't know how they deal with it.
BTW, this cf weighs approx 196grams sq. ft.

For a good idea, But I don't think I would use that for track or drag racing because it would block your view of things around you. I think people might like a lightweight sunroof plug and "B" pillar replacement pieces.
