Default JDM ITR rear glass

Anyone changed out there rear glass to the wiper less glass? Can you share some info? Did it replace the whole trunk to get rid of the motor on the inside? Anyone have some pics of theirs?

Before you flame asking why I want this...I just do..... Yes I'm a JDM ***** plus weight reduction without all that **** and the motor is good too....

Apparently you have no idea how much the rear hatch glass is.
Just remove the wiper.

JDM's don't even have rear wipers...the trunk is geared to take one though, so you won't need to replace anything...just get the plastic cap that covers the hole for the wiper arm

Plus it will be lighter than the JDM glass because the plastic-plugged-hole will weigh less than if glass was in it's place.

If your doing it for whoreness, then I guess go ahead and get the real deal.

If your truly doing it for hardcore weight savings, you could try the FAL glass.

I yanked the grommet out of the firewall near the battery.

It's thinner than the hard plastic cap so it doesn't stick out as much.

Needs a little bit of glue though, but looks clean

I heard someone said the JDM ITR rear hatch glass (race version) is thinner than the USDM one, but I am not sure about it.

JDM glass are not "Tempered" like the US glass. That is why JDM glass is lighter than the US ones.

Screw glass, what about Lexan? Does anyone make a direct fit replacement for the rear?

No I have no idea how much it cost but then again I dont care. If I was going to be cheap I won't be in this sport. I dont think I wanna do the removale. I might for now but I'm getting the wiper less and brake light less glass. Is there a diffrence from the 97 to 00 glass? I have a few friends in Japan (military) that will get me anything so I'll be looking for one shortly. DOT? hahahaha whats that?

Would the JDM hatches shatter dangerously because they're not tempered?

Look behind the battery in the lower right hand corner. It's hidden so you won't see it if you, "glance fast." Look again. I did the same thing with my rear wiper. Add some tire shine and it looks good as new.

Most likely because its only required here in the states. Is the JDM glass thinner? I heard they have a brownish tint to them too.
