as everyone knows..94-99 gsr's have the o2 sensor in the cat.NOT on the header.ls and type r headers have the hole in the header..and from what i've seen jdm 4-1's with 2.5 collectors have the sensor in the header..so what have you guys done? emissions isn't a issue where i live..i have a tanabe cat-back..and i want to go without cutting it if possible. isn't the jdm header longer?what cat should i use?i want everything to bolt up.
any help from guys will be great..i got a dc 4-2-1 right now..time to upgrade

Since you need a different cat or test pipe with the bigger collector on the JDM 4-1 header, you just get a cat/pipe that doesn't have a hole for the o2.
Even if it does have the hole, you just get a bolt to plug up the hole(s). I've heard the thread size being mentioned as M18x1.75 for teh sensor. I haven't confirmed that for myself yet tho.

i thought ls and type R headers where longer than gsr..because of the 02 sensor..wouldn't that being longer, then a gsr size cat(minus the hole or plugged up)be longer and cause my cat-back to not bolt up?

see in the pic above how the gsr 94-99 is shorter...if i get a type r...or a jdm with 2.5 collector..it'll be overall longer...thus my cat will be back farther..and my cat-back system wont bolt up...
anyone?

You have 2 02 sensors...one in the header as well as one in the cat.
As for the poster, what theyre recommending to you is to get a custom cat for your application. If its a 94-95 GSR, youll need a cat with no 02 bungs in it, and just move the 02 sensor to the bung in the header. If youre 96-99, you'll need a cat with 1 02 bung in it for the second sensor.
Or, like IN VTEC recommended, you have the option of plugging the header bung with a bolt, and just getting a custom cat with an 02 bung in the same location(s) as your stock sensor is now.
Bottom line, you will need to either chop off some piping or get a custom cat.

Yeah I just received a jdm rsr 2.5 inch exhaust with a jdm cat and 97 jdm itr header with 2.5 inch collecter. Since my car is obd1 and the header was odb2 I just put the o2 sensor into the header bung
You've posted another thread about this same topic before. Just talk to Dave at SMSP or Mike from IPS Racing and they'll be able to get you out a carsound cat that will bolt up directly with the JDM length header. I got my cat from SMSP and it is shorter so everything bolts up perfectly without having to cut and weld. There are two o2 sensors, so one will bolt into the bung in the header and the other will bolt directly into the cat.
