Default b18c1 block with b16 head VS b18c1 block with b18c1 head

Looking for a head to match the b18c1 block.

Please enlighten me. What kind of numbers should I expect out of these 2 setups? Assume CTR or ITR pistons/rods and everything else stock.

A complete b16 head is significantly cheaper so I need to know the truth.

Thanks

be a little more specific in what your buildup will consist of and it will be easier to answer your questions. you might wanna check out the all motor forum as well for similar threads like yours.

B18C block w/ B16A head - high TQ/ good HP
B16A block w/ B18C head - high HP/ low TQ

Which is very vage, however gives a good idea of the top different setups.

Ok, the block will have ctr pistons and rods. It will be blasted/acid cleaned, balanced and the crank will get polished/turned.

The 2 heads I am considering will be stock.

go with the gsr head, it will give a slightly higher compression ratio or just get the chambers welded on a b16 head.

there have been many debates on which flows better, i feel the b16 flows better and its cheaper

They flow virtually the same:

It's really the cam and IM design, that become the deciding factors between the 2 stock heads IMO...

The GSR head will up the compression slightly. Here's why:

Just some tidbits for ya. Good luck...

Edit: Found this too. Search function rules...

B16 vs GSR

I've got a b18c1 now but i'm debating on putting a b18a bottom end with pr3 pistons with my gsr head. Oh get the gsr head .

you will get a slightly higher compression on the gsr head( as if they were both stock) but with me, i went with b16 head because i didnt want to shell out 3 bills for a skunk IM for the gsr head(i hate the design on the gsr IM)... with the b16a i can use ITR IM

my CTR pistons will compensate for the lost in compression for not using the gsr head....

i hope you will get a better idea with all the info given above...
