Default Cam Gears

Hey guys, I got a AEM cam gear for my D16Y8 engine. I called up a few shops to see if anyone would put it on for me (I would do it myself, but i'm too scared to screw with the timing...). The problem is that a few shops told me the cam gear will not increase the performance of the car. I know it will, if it is adjusted correctly. But I don't know what to adjust it to...And I am not sure if I should retard it or advance it (I do not have any type of forcible induction if that helps). Can anyone help me out? Does anyone know the adjustments? Did anyone notice a difference in performance with their cam gear? Thanks

A cam gear on a single cam engine can only move your powerband up and down the RPM range, and the dyno is the best place to find out what works best for a particular engine.

The only way to make the most power with a cam gear is on the dyno, every motor acts different
