Default how do you program a keyless entry remote?

my dad has a 96 civic ex, it has the control box for the keyless entry next to the radio, but he got the car without the remote. he wants keyless entry for obvious reasons, and wants to know how you can program a remote, and the best place to get one. should he just get a used one off ebay, or from the dealer? how do you program them?

actually, it says in the manual for the keyless entry. or at least i have one of those manuals. it's pretty easy. if you need me to get you the instructions, let me know.

that'd be really cool. the car had the owner's manual in it, but it didn't say anything about the keyless (at least i didn't find anything). my dad doesn't want to spend the money for a dealer to do it, because of course the dealer is gonna charge out the *** for something small like this.
