I am going to buy a new car soon and am considering a prelude, either sh or base (97 and up), an acura rsx type-s, and integra gs-r. What is the major difference in these cars in terms of driveability, power, handling, etc...? Which car would you choose? Please be un bias.
Thanks
Thanks
lude...great engine, lots of power, but kinda heavy...never drove one but it looks good, personly i wouldn't get it
gsr- love the body, great engine, but i hate the interior..i used to own a integra ls...tegs are good but not great
rsx- powerful engine, LOTS of potential, roomy interior, and you could buy this car new!! don't have to worry about an abuse to the engine and u have warrenty
my choice, rsx then gsr then prelude

by far the RSX is the best car of the three. don't waste ur $ or time on old news. the K motor will impress you once you realize the power it can put out. the benefits of the RSX easily outweigh the drawbacks.

Thanks guys for the prompt replies. The car I will buy will be my first manual transmission car. I do know how to drive stick and all I need is a little time behind the wheel to master it even more. I am not into heavily modifying nor beating on my car. The reason I'm leaning towards a prelude is beacuse for everyday driving (shifting before 3k) the prelude provides more torque and is more friendly when it comes to the get up and go. I also drive a lot on the highway and would like a car that doesn't get pushed around by the wind and feels firm to the road. Out of the three vehicles I'm prob. going to go with the prelude 97+ SH or base. I am also considering a wrx, celica gt-s (maybe), and a 4th gen SE maxima.
More input would def. be appreciated.

well you have a broad price range right there.....so it would all be a factor of how much your looking to spend. if your not looking to spend a lot on mods, then why not just go with a new rsx type-s? performance wise, if your not looking to mod a lot, there isn't a need to. and to be quite frank with you, not many cars will get "push around" by the wind. it all depends on how much your getting the prelude for. which will be close to $20,000 if you get a decent one....and its still used. you might as well opt to pay a little more, and get a brand new type-s.

To tell you the truth, I think you can find a nice Lude for under 15k. When I mean nice, I'm talking in terms of low miles and condition.
IE: The other day, I saw a 1998 SH with 22k (weekend car) for 13.5k obo.
I know I have a broad price range but I am willing to spend anything up to 17k.
Also, these cars would be used upcourse.

i thought you ment you would want to buy a NEW rsx type-s. i guess in that case, go with whatever you like. These posts are usually pointless, because in the end, its up to you to deicde what you want to buy. i'm pretty sure that none of us are going to take you out of buying what you want, so just give it some serious thought because it is a big decision.

I have to disagree with you on the subject of the posts being useless. Most people post on honda-tech because they want to hear other peoples' opinions, that they have gained through personal experience. I think by posting such a question as mine is a smart idea and with enough info. can change my opinion on certain cars or choices.
i had this same problem when it was time to buy a new car. i was debating over the rsx-s, wrx, or prelude. even a gs-r! like what the other guys are saying...it all depends on how you are going to drive the car. personally, if you want a "race" type car to bring to the track, go with the gs-r. dump the prelude out of the list. i love the preludes...but i wouldnt really compare that car with the others. but seriously you prelude lovers...i love that car too. anyways, between the wrx and rsx-s...i got the rsx-s over the wrx because i felt it was more sportier. the wrx is a sedan and doesnt look much like a track car...more like a rally car (hence the term rally-inspired). the rsx-s has enough power to for a nice weekend drive but also has the comfort when sitting through traffic. it comes with leather and a bose system...luxury at your finger tips. not confuse the crap out of you...if i were to choose right now...i would actually get the wrx. the wrx is sporty enough and it's little more mature. i rather have the rsx-s for the track and the wrx for everyday driving. both are great cars. but i know it's a hard decision. here are my choices.
1. wrx
2. rsx-s
3. gs-r
4. prelude

Thanks guys for your input. I'm not really looking for a track car, just looking for a daily driver. I'm not much into racing because I don't have the budget for repairs that might come as a result. I want a comfy car, that's a manual, and which can provide me with fun once in a while, like f***ing around with some people on the highway at times. I am also considering a 4th gen SE Maxima and a WRX (all manual, upcourse)
Keep your thoughts coming guys.
Thanks

My RSX Type-S is my first manual transmisssion car. Don't worry about a couple numbers on the torque. I'm not into heavy modding/beating my car either. The max I want to do is intake/Hondata. The RSX-S is a nice ride if you want to afford it. I like the looks of the Preludes a lot so I can understand if you want to get into one, especially with the 5th gen 'lude being closer in looks to my old 85 lude than the 4th gen. Good luck.

What's your $$ situation like? For me, that would be the biggest deciding factor on a car, because you want to derive maximum satisfaction according to your budget...no?
