breaking tie rod off from the rack end..how is it done?*
I've been sitting on this for ever..here is the cliff notes of the story:
lug nuts broke, bolt cross threaded on tie rod ball joint, cheaper to replace tie rod, car needs alignment anyways.
Reading the helms does not help since it just says twist and life will be merry...well i can't twist **** off. Anyone ever done this? It says the locking nut is 14mm, yet no 14mm of mine fits on it (more like a 15/16's).
i'm probably making it more work then it needs to be, but *prove me wrong..prove me wrong

If i can remember correctly. You hold the tie rod end with a back up wrench (This may be the 14mm they speak of) and loosen the jam nut with either a 17 or 19mm wrench.
I did it awhile ago with both sides (Torn both boots and mushroomed the studs), wasn't too bad...

see this thread: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=490117
I loosened the locking nut by using a crescent wrench and hitting down on it with a hammer.

i went searching and searching and i never saw that post. Weird thing is that the end of my tie rod where the rack meets there are no threads like where that nut is loosen. It all looks oem, i guess i better take another look at it
