Default radiator probs

1 casualty of the weekend, i cracked my radiator

I drove it all the way home from Epping with the crack, and the temp gauge didnt budge, i figure its okay for now since the crack is at the top. Will it still circulate with a crack? am i risking damage to my water pump? It still has a ton of coolant in it, just instead of overflowing into the overflow tank, it overflowed to under my hood. any info is appreciated, id like to drive it for a week till i get my new radiator.

I wouldn't drive around on a cracked radiator unless it's very minor and will not cause leaking.

Yeah, but once you have a crack you can't trust the level in the reservoir bottle. When it gets hot it leaks out the crack. When it cools down it sucks air in thru the crack instead of sucking coolant from the bottle.

Besides, the plastic top is brittle. The crack aint gonna do anything except get bigger. Maybe real suddenly.

exactly, if you leave it it will only get worse. if you have to leave the radiator for now at least use some good epoxy or at least ghetto fix it with some jb weld

i dont recomend driving like that but if u def have to, u could start it up let it run for awhile see if anything is leaking or if your losing coolant.

make sure you empty all the coolant before diving your car. This will keep the coolant from leaking. j/k... if your going for a after market i recommend C$R
