Default Stock exh. manifold = Turbo mani

I was talking to my friend today about turbo set-ups. He sad i could use my stock manifold and just drill a hole for the WG and he could put a t/3 flange on it and maybe some other work and I could use that as my turbo manifold. I was wondering if you guys ever head of this? All responses are greatly appreciated!

In theory you can make any manifold into a turbo manifold. But in reality it will probably leak, cost to much, take too long, and be totally ineffecient. You would be much better off buying a manifold designed for a turbo application. Try tinker219 on here, I think he makes the basic log type for about $200.

actually there is a guy in Long Beach, CA that does this alot and sells them on ebay..i know i've posted pictures before but here it is again...i live in long beach and swung buy to check out what he has going on and they actually look pretty decent...the hf manifold are very nice the external wastegate option and flanged for t3

he's also working on equal length manifolds in a few different designs, check it out.

however i don't think its best to use this particular manifold..it looks like the turbo would angle out and hit the radiator?

i think if you can get the weld to "penetrate" the iron as well as the steel on the flange you should be ok........after all..steel is a "form" of iron.

You can weld steel to cast iron no problem, if you do it right. Sometimes even if you do it wrong its ok. I've posted a link to a 'how to' site before. This guy's work is intresting.
