Default FYI ---> JDM Power Folding Mirrors

I just wanted to let everyone know what i just found out the hard way.

I bought JDM power folding mirrors off EBAY for my 92 Hatch for a good price only to find out that they were for a 4 door. I took the mirrors apart to see what i could do.

I separated the mirror into 2 pieces. The mirror part and the base. I then tried to mate the JDM mirror to my stock base. It was so close to fitting. There is just this metal part of the motor that would not allow the mirror to go all the way into the base.

Nothing a bench grinder would not solve! I found that if you grind down the metal part on the mirror just enough it will fit like a charm. It even looks stock and works perfect!

I also help a friend change the actual glass mirror part from JDM to the USDM. He kept complaining about the weird angle. i have also read about a lot of people who are really bothered by the weird fish eye look of the JDM lense. It didnt seem to bother me so much. Don really know what everyone is whining about?

We put the mirror lense in boilling water and carfully removed the lense on both the JDM mirror and the USDM. Then just used epoxy to put the glass part back on!

Just thought this might help anyone who happens to have the same problem i had.

The USDM mirror lenses are different on the left and right side. But I heard that the two lenses are the same on the JDM mirrors, right? I didn't think that the USDM lenses would fit into the JDM mirrors, because I thought they are of a different shape, but perhaps I'm wrong.

The shape of the USDM mirror and the JDM is the same. The JDM mirror glass gives off a weird looking angle when you look into it. It is made for right hand drive cars!

Oh BTW......Thanks josups!
