Default Cams for a type-r....

I dynoed my b18c5 not to long ago and I netted 181whp with the following mods:

Jdm 4-1 Header
Aem cold air
Carsound cat with 2 1/4" piping to a stock type r muffler
Type-r fuel pump
Chipped obd-1 p28 ecu with obd-2 to obd-1 jumper harness (Motor is in a Ek hatch)
Clutchmasters aluminum flywheel and stage 3 clutch.

I want to hit 200whp this summer, and Im not sure what cams I should use to acheive this. Has anybody used crower 402's or 403's in a c5 thats a daily driver? Any experince or suggestions of what Ill need to acheive my goal would be appreciated. Thanks. And by the way, I also picked up a vafc and some aem cam gears to help tune the car a little better.

before you go and spend time and money on cams why dont you try this:

New header
New exhaust (TRUE 2.5 inch)
Cam gears
VAFC or HONDATA

with my 1998 ITR im almost at 200whp with

SMS Header
no cat
TRUE 2.5inch exhaust
cam gears
vafc.

Stock head, stock intake, stock block. You dont need to buy cams right now, just spend the money on better bolt ons. And if you do end up getting cams, be sure to tune.

yea thats right. get *better* bolt-ons and you should be near 200HP using your stock cams.

Not more bolt ons, but better bolt ons. I see too many people moving too fast w/out having the basic bolt-ons down, then at the end of their build up, they are disapointed w/ their numbers.

My old EK hatch was proof that 200whp can be had with JDM 4-1 header and Skunk Stage 1 cams!

Good cams, I also like fact ITR valve train can be used!

What kind of 1/4mile times did your ek run?

I really appreciate the help guys. I think Im going to go with the full exhaust this week along with installing my cam gears and vafc. Then head back to the dyno for some more tuning.

dont wanna bash on you but i saw this one video of a fully built street EK(dont know the exact set-up) with a B18c and he ran 13.3 with the Toda B and 12.6 with CTR cams.

other than the stock exhaust and 2.25 cat, I don't see a problem with this guy's bolt ons. The AEM Cold Air is not dyno friendly but it makes more hp than the other sr intakes, the jdm 4-1 header is still a worthwhile piece and for the overall $$$ not worth it to swap to another header.

His car obviously wasnt tuned correctly if his CTR's are making more power than his Toda B's were (especially a 7/10's sec. difference in the 1/4).
My 13.9 was my stock ITR swap+bolt ons. Keep in mind my car weighs 2430 w/ just the drivers seat and 1/4tank of gas. With the fully built ITR when its tuned, im hoping for low 13's. That would mean in a CX which is 300lbs lighter, it'd be mid 12's.
Si's are heavy ****'s. Ask tom(B18C5 - EH2)

Someone needs to find a new tuner. Its funny cuz if a CTR intake CAM REALLY did make more power than a much higher priced SET of Toda camS, everyone would be buying a CTR intake cam instead of a set of toda cam's.

You also kinda forgot something.......he is running a CRV Block, not "fully built B18C".

Its not always about peak power!

The power Curve of the CTR cams is prolly alot better for drag racing!
