Stuff like this really ticks me off. So the R has been in the shed for the past two days. I got in it today to head to class. When I cranked it up I noticed it was idling a little funny. It would ever so sligtly drop rpm every few seconds. I didn't think much of it and took of. Everything seemed ok until I gave the car a good bit of throttle. It was definitely being starved of something. It acted alot like when my cat became clogged, but since I now run a test pipe I know that isn't the case. I checked the codes and it isn't throwing any. Also tried resetting the ECU.
I'm wondering if it could be bad gas (again), but since its not throwing any misfire codes it makes me wonder. It apparently has something to do with the car sitting for a while, because the last time I drove it everything was fine.

maybe check ignition components, rotor-plugs..</TD></TR></TABLE>
I just put in new plug wires, distributor cap, rotor button, and plugs a few weeks ago so I doubt its that. I drove the car for a few miles but thats it. Don't want to take any chances.
The other thing I can think of is if something crawled up or made a nest in my exhaust in the past two days. It's unlikely but not impossible here in the country.
Could I check for water in the gas by unhooking a line from the fuel filter and let it pour out into a glass jar then see if it seperates? I still think the car would throw some misfire codes though if it was gas.

No. I checked it before I left and it was fine.

same problem i had 2 weeks ago. Spark plugs my friend. $3.99 - each - NGK's. It only happened under 4k. After that, the car just feels sluggish.

Sorry to bring this back up..
Did you fix the problem? 'cause mine does EXACTLY the same thing..
So far I have replaced:
-cap & rotor
-spark plugs & wires
-fuel filter/pump/pressure regulator
-replaced cat.
-checked all the vacuum lines & connections
What else would you guys check also?
I got holes in my pocket
Thanks in advance

My timing belt jumped and nicked my exhaust valves. Having a machine shop put in new valves (about $150 of labor), and replacing the T belt/water pump along with all the top end gaskets and seals. Parts cost me around $750 (with new Portflow Valvesprings).

double check all vac. lines. and make sure you IACV functions properly. and also check the nuts on the intake manifold to make sure its making a good seal.
