Say for instance I want to use this as a kill switch for the fuel pump. Which two terminals do I connect the fuel pump wires to, and which do i connect the switch to?
I was playing around on my battery in the car using an LED but i kept getting sparks either combination i tried. I connected the battery along the middle two prongs, 85 and 86.... and the LED to the other two.
My relay only has 4 prongs, and i was told its spst? Im confused, did I do this right?
thanks in advance.
edit.... hmmmm looks like my lil diagram didnt come out as planned... lemme see something
Edit 2- if you cant visualize the relay, simply hit reply to my post and then hit quote to see the way i typed it in. thanks.

I want to know how to run the relays instead. Im not using this as a fuel pump kill switch, i just said for instance
Did I connect it correctly?

do it on something simple first, like a light bulb, if you wanna know how they work. from the battery to one side, then ground the other end. theres like 2 circuits in a single throw single pole relay. one circuit energizes the second. when you want power from the relay, you energize the relay. you probably knew that, but ill put it there anyway. its like a switch for a switch. play around with it. when its off, it should be open. when you flick the switch, the relay should click (meaning its energized) let us know how it turns out.
ps, make sure its rated for the car. like a 12v relay. that goes without saying though
