U guys might hate me for this but.............
i was wondering how everyone felt on Maaco paint jobs....... i have seen a few cars painted by maaco that arent bad at all. im sporting a two tone rex right now with factory red up top and a WW urethane on the bottom and its starting to **** me off. im in college and working part time and money is not exactly plentiful. i just wanted to get it painted so it looks half decent. keep in mind this is totally a daily driver. as far as color goes i want a charcoal grey color, not some flaky blue or crazy house of colors ****........ just a dark charcoal grey. anywayz, any opinions or stories would be awesome and i already know that quality does change from shop to shop....... thanx guys
not worth it. HTey're $199 job is **** adn they're more expensive jobs aren't any better. I'd expect to spend about $600-$1000 for a decent paint jbo that will last a while. Don't waste your $$ on Maaco paint jobs. It'll last for maybe a year or two max nad it's poor quality.
Good Luck!!

If you get at least the ambassador (spelt that wrong probably) paint job, second to highest prep job they have (forgot the name), and the intergrated clear coat... it will turn out pretty damn good. That will run you over 500 but you can usually talk them down. If you take it in, get the cheapest prep job, cheapest paint job, and no intergrated clear coat... yes it will turn out pretty bad.
two things to consider... Quality/Cost of labour and materials.
Its not known to all that paints and clearcoats come in different grades. The results are like night and day.
Bottom line, you get what you pay for.
It might be worth waiting for when you have enough money for a quality job that will last.
Just an opinion

EXACTLY! everyone hates maaco because they pay for the $200 paint job and it craps out after a year. of course it will because it's cheap paint and has no clear coat, but if you're willing to pay a decent amount they can do a good job. I got my daily driver civic painted there. It had really bad oxidation so that cost me an extra $150, but otherwise my total was gonna be around $450ish and included their 2nd to best prep job, full color change, clear coat, and 4 year warranty (might be 5, don't remember) i'm very satisfied by the quality and they didn't overspray anywhere either.

thanx for the posts.......... i didnt plan on getting the 200 dollar job ........ i was going for the 600-700 range, i will do most of the prep work myself also..........
btw: i cant take the body kit off cuz my bumpers have dents from fender benders and the door cap is hiding a slight dent on the drivers side door......... heheh
so if u think 6-700 will get me a decent paint job for a daily driver im gonna do it.......... ohhhh and i agree, spending 3k on a paint job is crazy, i would definitely use that money towards go fast stuff instead............
