Default Can stock GSR handle 8400 RPM?

What about one with the mods in my sig? Will an increased stroke add any adverse effects to an increased Rev limit? I plan on buying bigger cams and upgrade the valvetrain in the next year also. Anyone else everr have any problems?

I'm sure it will handle it for a little bit, but not as long as Honda would deem necessary. Even with a lesser stroke than you have, they felt they needed a precisely balanced, hand assembled motor with heavier crankshaft, different bearing design, and different pistons with a friction coating, lighter valves, and God knows what else....a stiffer block? An oil cooler?

It will take 8400 rpms, but maybe not for as long as you'd like.

it will take it for a LONG LONG time. whats stock GSR reve limiter? 7900 or 8100? either way im sure the the gsr springs can handle a little extra. as long as you arent running cams that are too big and cuase coil bind.

and if its the block your worrying about, DONT. as long as its in good condition and well maintained. 9500 is not uncommon for that block and crank.

Ok, thanks for the info guys. So when I upgrade to S2 stg 2 cams and upgraded valvetrain (that is the plan for now, I'm sure it will change down the road just like everything else) I won't have any problem reving to 9K? This is also my daily driver.

GS-R cams don't make any good power beyond 7600rpms, its basically useless to go past stock redline. The valve springs also aren't made to go that high, upgrade to ITR springs or aftermarket.

i guess that's the reason why, my engine stopped making power at 7.4-7.6k rpm

wouldnt it just make the same r/s ratio using the ls crank? that wouldnt be good for revving.

GS-R Springs and ITR Springs have the same Honda part number.

But yeah, you're not really getting a whole lot by revving than high with those cams. It' just pretty furious.

Your GSR cams don't make power that high. There would be no point. After you get the Skunks you should make power to 9000. But get on the dyno and make sure that is where you want to shift. You may find that you only make power to 8600 with the Skunks.

my friend is buying my used ITR cams, is what your saying that he is fine with his stock gsr valve springs, he will be using a itr ecu so he will only be reving to 8400?
