IC piping made out of aluminum....okay ?
is it, or should I go with mild steel like all that caomes in a kit....
I am trying to save money....and also I am running a HKS SS BOV, will it be strong enough though to hold the flange of the BOV ??? I am sure someone has tried it here and knows the answer...
thanks

Aluminum is cheaper than mild steel? hmm...I would think you could go to any local muffler shop for mild steel. Any welding, etc., on aluminum may be more expensive. Another thing to keep in mind is durability. Aluminum piping would probably be more prone to bending, dents, etc.
Just a couple of things to keep in mind.

aluminum intercooler is fine if you know how to weld it correctly. Its one of the harder metals to weld properly. You can buy the ubends nad straight pipes from Burnsstainless.com they sell all the alluminum ubends and straight pieces you would need. putting it alltogether is the hard part.
actually here's the scoop...
This will save me money since one, I have GSR running with skunk 2 manifold, so the IM is higher , it is just like the LS or ITR...
and I was gonna use a one piece cold air intakefrom the TB to the area behind the bumper, after that I have to use 1- U bend and a straight pipe to the IC....
the extension to the IC can be made out of steel and it'll be fine....
So, another words, I am just trying to use what I have and make it work...
My BOV, the HKS, has a flange on it, it is steel but the diameter is ony 1.75" and it is about 5 inches long
I can prolly cut the cold air intake and connect the steel pipe where the BOV flange is...
would this work ???
thanks
