Default Oppenions on the "faze" air/fuel guage at autozone???

Looks to have decent fit and finish for 60 bucks, and plugs into...the ecu I guess, it had a wad of wire in the box with it.
Would it work decently for tuning/ trouble shooting??

Im not going for the bling-bling at all, would I be better off building a home made one (heard they were more acurate anyway)

thanks,sohc

There is no real purpose in owning one. Only for show. Those gauges are very inaccurate.

Unless you have the proper O2 sensor which i think is called a "wideband" O2 sensor those air/fuel ratio gauges are not accurate and just look cool to see the light bounce back and forth

thats what I figured... it would be nice to have one that read right if you were setting up a car with a stand alone system or something...
thanks

yup, totally worthless.

Apexi TT a/f ratio = 14.2

Real A/F (dyno wideband) = 10.2

accurate, huh?

Air/fuel ratio gauges are very accurate, it's just that they're showing what the narrowband O2 sensor is throwing out.
It's the O2 sensor's that are inaccurate.

I have the Faze one. The real kicker is that it any ECU controlled car it will constantly sweep. I do want to get a better O2 sensor to make it a bit more accurate though. I guess it is for show no matter which type you get. I also have a Faze Oil pressure gauge.....I'm pretty happy with it.

is the faze oil one electric or with that nylon tubing?? and if electric, do you have to set up some sort of sender? basically how does it hook up?
thanks, sohc

It's electric. The oil sending unit comes with the gauge. You will have to buy a 1/8" T-fitting and 1/8" male fitting. It goes in where the oil sending switch (for the oil light) screw into the block. It's near the oil filter on my 95, it's actually above the oil filter so you have to remove it (good time to change the oil and filter). One end of the tee is for the block, one end for the stock oil sending switch, one for the sending unit. The sending unit wires directly to the gauge.

Make sure you use teflon tape for the fittings for a good seal. Alot of people use brass plumbing for electric. I wouldn't because brass doesn't handle stress too hot. I picked up galv steel fittings at Home Depot. Worked great and pretty easy. The electric gauges don't read real time like the mechanical with the tubing but they're hella easy to put in and I don't like the idea of oil in a line in my car. One leak and

The AF meter was even easier. Tap it into the sending wire in O2 sensor.

Anyone know anything about the new AEM wideband O2 sensors?
