For all the people who swapped in NSX calipers or plan to..
I'm about to do this.. but w/ legend calipers.. which are much cheaper and more effective
Legend calipers are better than NSX because the NSX uses 40/36mm pistons
and the Legend uses 42/38mm pistons.
NSX = 250-300+
Legend = 50-150
So this should be mod should be comming soon...
All i need to do is swap the calipers right? (from L->R i mean)
Legend L to my R, vise versa..
Legend Calipers, Rotors, Pads..
Any other advice? or parts needed? the caliper will be completely rebuilt as well

Yes you need to swap left to right and vice versa. You don't need legend rotors but the extra mass helps with heat if you are doing tracking (Don't think they will matter at Auto-x).
I got mine for $80 shipped so they definitely can be found for a deal.
That said, I was under the impression only the secondary piston was 2 mm larger. Also, I feel I have used my calipers long enough to prove no ill effects to swapping sides but you will find those with NSX calipers claim that we are hurting ourselves by changing the leading piston (Swapping sides). Although a valid concern I think the issue has been disspelled. I have experienced no uneven wear and have had good breaking on track, auto-x and street with them.

Well the thingl w/ changing the leading piston... I don't think it would hurt at all, since stock calipers don't even come w/ a secondary piston at all. Even w/ the pistons swapped, if there was to be any uneven wear it would still wear more evenly than stock calipers would, So as long as its better than stock..
Well I don't track.. No spare $$ to, i was planning to go to expo 4 if it was closer to So Cali, but the location changed. I'll be @ one of the Expo's for sure..
But I do drive local mountain roads
And the legend rotors would hurt.. I might as well while i'm tearing up my brakes.

It IS on the west coast and very close to LA. It is 1/2 the distance from LA than the distance I had to drive this year as the organizer and I have 1800 miles to drive to Expo 4 . . . 300 miles is kids play.
This will be your best opportunity for a close Expo for a long time . . .

Alot. Same as NSX and Type-R Calipers. What does a stock ITR caliper weigh?

aye, so no modification required. do they use the same pad size as oem R?
which model/year legend calipers are we looking for? gs model only? carparts.com lists a wide selection/price with gs/ls and coupe/sedan model included.

i chose nsx calipers because they will cool faster than the legend, and they are bling bling. nsx you DONT need to swap sides and only 1small washer is needed as long as you use legend GS rotors.

how do they "cool faster"... & just b/c they are bling bling?
haha.. well alot of people here would rather have a cheaper and more effective caliper...
less than 1/2 the price and bigger pistons..

I got my Calipers from http://www.car-part.com as mentioned above. Seems like they are from a 93-94 (maybe more years) Legend Coupe.
No modification except side swapping needed (Unless you run legend rotors).
NSX Calipers do have fins for cooling but I am not convinced they are significant to do much and certainly not enough on a street car to matter.

Hrm, this gets me thinking. This upgrade should be practically free for me.
So what model/year exactly? The 6-Speed Legend Coupes use different Calipers/brake pads from the Automatic models.

I didn't ever fade after 30 minutes on track with my stock calipers and it only got better with the Legend Calipers. We weigh a good bit less than an NSX . . .

A cheap "Home Depot Sponsored" brake ducting would be much more cost effective. I just think the NSX Calipers are all bling, unless they actually provide more clamping force. But judging by the diameter of the pistons compared to the Legend Calipers, math and logic would tell you otherwise.

If weight was such an issue with the calipers, could you just machine the extra material off?

for non-itr owners would the fastbrakes 110x4 redrilled 5lug 11" rotors suffice using legend calipers? how much thicker are the legend rotors?
