getting a new clutch...opinions?
well my good ol' clutch finally gave out...here's the replacement i'm looking at -- i did some searching on past posts but didn't find anything about the new ACT clutches. i saw posts from back in the day before the supposed revisions for type-r engines...any feedback would be great!!!

I got a ACT clutch, and I can chirp 5th gear now. No one believes me, but I'm going to get a videocamera in a month or two, and I'll post it online. ACT Clutch f'ing ROCKS.

I second that... but have to ask:
what is the going price? With the price that most dealers sell them at, it is better to get something else AND a flywheel for a comparable price.

If your doing any type of racing, I'd say go with the ACt Extreme PP and S/S disc. I have this set-up along with the ACT 8.5 flywheel. A few other people have this same set-up and love it as well. I know Smitdog has the same clutch, and I think Owen the Soy has this set up.
I have the R clutch and flywheel before on my GSR motor/LS tranny. Now I have a R tranny with the ACT set-up and Im loving it. I was a little impressed with the R flywheel, but the clutch wasnt all of that. Im liking the ACT alot more.

Id say stock since your motor is basically stock. or maybe stock disk with a more "heavy duty" pressure plate.
are you planning to seriously mod the car anytime soon? that should be part of your decision as well.

My car is stock(except the flywheel), but the difference is definitally worth the money. The first time you slam it into 4th and your tire squaks....

Its worth the money when chit breaks just because you can 'squak' your tires?

This is true, If your just going to be tooling around town. Save your money and stick with stock. But if you plan on putting your car to the test on any track, go aftermarket.
J-who still cant figure out why people modify cars just to rip up and down streets

OEM ITR, i have seen them hold 300hp and they engage nicely

p.s. i have a 6-puck from my old turbo setup and believe me, it wreaks havoc on your transmission(need to get input shaft bearing replaced now and am looking for an ITR clutch for my b20vtec). ITR is plenty for a fairly highly modded N/A motor and even mildly boosted applications

hey just want to say thanks to everyone's suggestions...i did end up going with the act hdss combo setup. i've been only using it for about a week but i'll let you guys know after i get pass the break-in period what i really think. as far as right now the clutch feel is VERY close to stock and actually seems to have a better feel as far as control than stock. i also decided it was better to go with act since acura/honda was pricing the parts at a rediculous price. thanks again!
side note: any more meets coming up for bay area or cali ITRs???
