Im interested in purchasing a type r.. What year is best?
Hello everyone. First of all i would like to say Honda-Tech is by far one of the most organized and polite message boards on the net. I've been researching allot about GSR's and at the same time saving up for one.. But now im interested in a type r and want to start doing some research on what year would be the best.. I know allot about gsr's and what year is best.
I was gonna get a 95 because i like that style the best. (i hate the little swooshes in the newer models) But now that i am intersted in a type r i would like to know what year is best. And wich year's have what obd version. Etc etc etc. Any information anyone could give me about this topic would help me further make my decision. Thanks!

welcome to the board.. (all of what i'm to say you could find further information through search/archives)
1997 would be same style to 95, 98 and up have different bumpers. theres a difference in cams - may compensate for slightly better dyno results of the line. immobolizer available for 00 and 01 models, as well as different taillights + rear windshield wiper. shiftknobz are differnt for 00&01. i believe a/c wasn't standart on earlier models. all 96+ cars are obd2.. 97-98 white, 00-01 black yellow
other than that plus other few differences, i'd choose it based on the car itself, condition/milage.. etc.. then the color/year.

There are no major differences to pick one year over the other. Just find one that has been well taken care of.

i think you'll find the general consensus is that the black R's are quicker, handle better, and pull more chicks.
