Having a problem with my '99 Accord's door lock
On the '99 Accord, there are several ways to lock and unlock the doors: (1) key in the lock (driver's side or passenger side); (2) the "lock / unlock" switch on both front doors; (3) remote entry fob; or (4) manually pulling up / pushing down the lock (the piece sticking up out of the door). 1 and 4 manually open the door, 2 and 3 send a signal which opens it.
For some reason, my driver's side door can now only be opened with the two manual methods: either a key in the driver's door lock, or physically pulling up or pushing down the lock. When I use the other methods, I can see it sort of moving, but it is stuck for some reason and won't lock / unlock.
Any ideas before I take the door panel apart and just throw a lubricant on all of the moving parts associated with the door lock?
I've checked the Haynes manual, which tells me how to take the door panel apart but doesn't talk about this problem directly.

Do you have the door open while you are trying to lock/unlock it? I know with my 93 that you can't lock the door with it open, you eitehr have to hold the handle and then push down the lock, or use the key from outside, I think it's a lockout prevention measure.
No, it doesn't have to do with what you are talking about. For example, I normally cannot lock the door with the door open and the key in the ignition.
This is under normal circumstances, say, walking up to the locked car from the passenger side and unlocking all doors. Well, all will unlock now, except the driver's door.

That's usually a bad door lock actuator. When moveing it manually does the lock **** move freely, or does it seem to bind?

When I move the **** manually, it moves freely and doesn't seem to catch on anything unusual. Opening that door manually is the same as opening the passenger door manually.

Probably the actuator then.
Probably the actuator then.
just wait..before you blame it on the actuator, do yourself a favor and pull the door panel out first.
if you got something jamming in the way, there's your fix there.
sounds simple enough yet it happens

That's why I asked if the lock **** was moving freely, to rule that out.

I agree. Been there before, both my lock motors went out at same time on one of my cars. $70 for a pair of new aftermarkets and some patience in taking the old ones out.
