car is heating up, whats wrong??
My cars heatin up real fast, i discoverd that my cooling fan wasn't work, so i got a new fan, i installed it and it still wasn't workin, so i replaced the relay, and its still not kicking on when the car gets hot. So right now i have it hot-wired to the battery, it keeps the car cool, but it is always at 1/4 hot? is this normal? if not what else could it be
The radiator and fan work to keep the engine from OVER heating, but when the car is warm, the temperature needle should have moved from the 'C' to about halfway between the 'C' and the 'H'. The engine will run it's best when warmed up, as well as the fact that the engine oil will be up to operating temperature, and all the moving parts will be well lubricated with oil. When the needle keeps moving up into the 'red' zone, then the car is in danger of overheating, and that can be BAD. Until that happens, your car is fine.
Did you check out all your wiring in-between the relay and fan? Maybe its cut or grounding itself on something??
Oh and it running at about a 1/4 of the way is just fine like everyone has already stated.
