max redline on stock ls bottom end
ihave a 1998 integra ls. i have a bill gude race head on it and i am running stock bottom end. he just sent me the reprogrammed ecu and he bumped the redline up to 8500. i only have 60 000 miles on the bottom end and it is a daily driver so i don't want to blow it up. also with the race package i am running can i still get 100 000 miles out of the car and the bottom end. please post back thganks.

okay. most ls/vtecs run on stock ls bottom end except for maybe arp rod bolts. just het it on the dyno and find out where your power band falls off. if not then go do it with the *** dyno. do a 2nd gear pull and shift when the car seems like it kinda falls off power. like it doesnt want to pull anymore.
I heard that even though the engine may rev that high, over time its going to wear on the internals very bad and something(like a connecting rod) is going to break. You could probably go safley to 7k. Anything higher than that I'm not too sure about.
i agree...unless you're bottom end is balanced w/ arp bolts or replaced with aftermarket heavy duty rods...the risk of breaking em is high especially above 8000 rpm. I had my rods shotpeened and from what I've heard, they do very little. I have my rev limiter set to 9000, I just keep my fingers crossed everytime I hit it, hehe...
I wouldn't go passed 8000 rpm's. My buddy has a skunk2 program with a 9000 rpm redline and he doesn't take it up to that. The engine starts to make noises that shouldn't be there at about 7800 to 8000.
Believe it or not, a friend of mine was taking his STOCK ls to about 8800 rpm's. We all thought the thing would kick a rod out the side and it never did. He sold that motor and the person who bought it is doing the same. As far as I know, the thing is still running.

s rods can take a 9000 rpm shift! I mean it has nothing to do with stroke! those rods can take it but it dont make anypower in stock form after 7k! honda always over engineers there stuff! just my 2 cents
