Default Car Idling at 1500 RPM

A Buddy of mines car is idling awfully high ...we were wondering what it could be...any help would be appreciated...

Edit: the motor is a b16a first gen

IACV would be my first choice.

TPS would be my second.

I had the same problem, and just replaced both. Everything's back to nornal now.

Unless some one has messed with it they don't usualy just move their self so that pob. not it.
But it will fix the idel,just not the right way.

On Speed-Density metered systems, additional air introduced into the intake only serves to raise engine speed (rpm). You have a source of unmetered air, a.k.a vacuum leak.

Are you throwing any codes?

this morning i did get a check engine light when i was warming up my car... but i turned the car off and back on again and it was gone... and wut do i do about a vacume leak...?

i dont have a vacume leak. i checked it over and over and i dont have a vacume leak... i fucked with that little srew already but still no help... wut do i do....?

I have the same problem, everytime I stop at traffic light it idle 1500rpm, when I light touch the accelerator it goes back to normal. any idea what's went wrong??

check the throttle cable and the butterfly. They may be sticking, or the cable may be too tight.

****! now my engine is reving by it's self! it goes from 1000 rpm's to 2500 rpm's by its self while the car is runing...

looks like a leak..i had this prob..solve the leak and it stills idle shitty..:/

I used to have this issue.... It was a gasket leak at the TB and plenum... spray some crap on there and see what happens. Maybe the O2 sensor also???

Also check your fast idle valve they often go bad.
