where would someone source tubing for a homemade turbo? i don't think it's as simple as going to home depot to grab some steel piping and slaping them all together to get a turbo kit. Can anyone who created a homemade turbo help me out. I would think that you would have to plan carefully about where the tubing would go and to figure if enough space is available. Then finding the right material and then getting them mandrel bent, if they arn't already? any help is appreciated.

 

you have to either fabricate it yourself, or buy piping from a kit, and make it fit. I know a couple people that pieced it together from radiator hoses.

no, any piping home depot might have would not be suitable for your application.

 

Call the number on my sig. Piping isn't on the website, but he can get you aluminized steel mandrel bent piping and any other DIY turbo stuff you might need (flanges, fittings, etc) for a reasonable price.

 

some muffler shops can create you a good set of charge pipes
I had a muffler shop build me some and I welded what I could together and used couplings for the rest.

 

This might be a dumb question, but I've wondered it about homemade turbo kits for a while. What do you do about fuel delivery? I'd assume you'd need more than just a boost in fuel pressure. Is there a Hondata or a piggyback something-or-other you'd use?

 

fmu, hondata, etc. it's called fuel management.

jc whitney has the mandrel bent piping. i personally just used my injen intake and connected piping onto that.

 

how u gonna just make a turbo kit

 

buying a kit off the self is good.. but building your own is a lot better.. just look whats in a greddy kit, thats why we build are own

 

piecing together a turbo kit isn't all that difficult. It's not like you have to fabricate everything from scratch, just the piping.

Pretty much you can do everything by yourself. Cept you need to buy the turbo and intercooler, then fuel manegment. You pretty much need to make a design based on your engine, then buy pipes and modify them to make everything. Or you could order it for cheap from people that have already made this stuff, because it would take you a lot of time and probably a lot more money because you are bound to need to redo some things, becasue you are learning. I am all for making it yourself. But if you don't have the time buy the parts. IM me, we make a lot of turbo parts. You need any help just let me know. Check the link in my sig.,
