Default K&N Filter for stock Airbox

What is the largest K&N cone filter that will fit in the stock air box? I know you have to modify it to fit cause K&N does not make a drop in for G3 Tegs (I don't know why they don't, idiots?)...anybody got the directions for this (there was a website showing how to do this I lost the URL)?

Thanks.

i think the model# is 3130 but do a search in the competition forum or tech. I was curious myself about three or four months ago and found the answer in a search. Someone also posted pics in the older posts. Good luck.

P.S.=> I am using a Comptech for the ease of installation.

Has anyone dynoed just a K&N filter vs. CAI?
I'm going back to my stock rubber tube due to the high heat transfer rate of the aluminum CAI tubes. Also, my car was sucking up water from puddles (as I drove over deep puddles, water would splash onto the cone filter and eventually the engine would suck in the water) ...not alot of water, but enough to be annoying (I have a short shifter that was sensitive to such things).

Anybody know which flows better, Comptech vs K&N RU3130?

I dynoed the Comptech foam drop-in versus the stock paper filter and gained 1whp and lost 1lb/trq.

The largest K&N air filter which will fit in the stock airbox is the RU-2820. It is nearly identical in size to the stock filter (stock - 5.0"(D) x 7.0'(L) / RU-2820 - 5.0"(D) x 6.5"(L) ).

Here is a picture of the RU-2820 in the stock airbox.

Here is a picture showing the RU-2820 (left), RU-3130 (center) and stock filter (left).

Just in case you cannot see these pictures, you can go to http://www.geocities.com/bretq/kn2820_airfilter.html to see the pictures.

What is the margin of error on a dyno? The gains most performance products give seem to be around 2-3%

Most people add Comptech filter for performance. I added it mostly for cost. The stock filter is about $40 bucks and the Comptech is about $60 but lasts much much longer.

That's my reasoning as well. I got a K&N filter cleaner/oil kit left over from my last car.

Where can I get this RU 2820 online that doesn't have rediculous shipping charges?

here are some idea's:

stock box

custom connection tube:

Largest K&N filter that will fit.... Please forgive me the model# escapes me.

other set up, using the stock airfilter plastic housing and smaller K&N filter... I believe this one is the 3130, the 2820 is the smaller, but not by much.

hope this help a little..

I might add that the 2820 is not a round filter... that is the reason it look larger. The filter is in fact oblong, but again they are about the same size

Currently i am talking to K&N and they should have a drop in for integra's in a few weeks. They have a stock number already assigned, but not yet release. Send a email to K&N Filters to tech or sales and they will tell you if they have completed the production. They will be looking for some cars to R&D soon... so keep posted to the website. http://www.knfilters.com

The RU-2820 is in fact a round filter. If you look at the picture of the filter on my website (see direct link above) you will notice that I have the white end piece from the stock filter attached to the RU-2820. It is exactly the same diameter as the stock filter, which is 5.0".

This is where I got my RU-2820 from. I agree with BlueR1's comments.

Yeah, I just visited the K&N website and I came up with the part number (E-2427). It supposed to be a drop in for all year G3 integras. I just got a new OE filter so I shouldn't need a new filter for a little while.

Damn, K&N is slow. The G4 integra just came out and they just finished making a G3 replacement air filter...sheesh

Yeah the reason that K&N is taking a long time is because there is a vaccum pressure that is needed or some **** like that.. i've been harassing them every since the IAS in Long Beach. but coming out soon so they say. As soon as they come out i can finally make my custom air ram intake w/ stock air box
(similar to Mugen but hella lot cheaper)
But keep posted to KNfilter because soon they will as for R&D test that means...
FREE FILTER.. yippie.....

Carlex, what size is the K&N 2020? I couldn't find any information on this particular filter.

Another place to purchase K&N filters online is http://www.martelbros.com/ . I have heard a lot of good comments from people over on the S2000 forum about Martelbros.
