install: jdm carbon fiber window switches
i finally got around to installing the jdm carbon fiber window switches on the itr. i bought the set from CWESTINDC2, which included not only the carbon fiber bezels, but also the switch panel and wiring board.
as you know, the switches come off of the jdm right hand drive itr. the passenger side was a simple task. the panels are identical to the usdm passenger side and are a simple drop in. the driver's side however, is symmetrical; i.e. the screw-in points of the bezel on the usdm are a mirror image of the jdm screw-in points. hence, there are many installs which required some sort of irreversible modification by using a dremel, etc. luckily, the set included the jdm switch panel and board, so it was not a big problem.
the largest problem was dismantling the usdm switch panel to use the "tiny" little plastic pieces to use on the jdm switch panel. the jdm switch panel i got was broken in several places and so i had to use some "engineering-sense
" to get it to work. i wish i could have taken more pictures *during* the install, but it was too tedious.
the end result is below:

usdm driver's side

usdm passenger's side
looking at the switch panel and the wiring board, i could not figure out a way to transfer the "auto-roll-down-feature" from the usdm switch panel to the jdm switch panel. as of now, i don't have that feature...i'll just have to hold the switch down for a whole 4 seconds longer.
CLIFF NOTES:
bought jdm cf windows switches
installed them
pictures
looks great, but don't have the "auto-roll-down"

Now we need to find out why on earth is the Passenger side air vent not fake carbon fiber painted? LoL
Looks nice...I'd rock these before I'd get some JDM Climate control. hahahaha

machgo5go,
i guess it's hard to tell from your first picture; is the passenger window switch also an auto roll down? it looks like it has the "grooves".

this JDM crap is getting out of control. <sarcasim>seriously, i just caught a JDM cold from my JDM ITR coin holder which was packaged in JDM newspaper and TOUCHED by a REAL JDM junk yard owner laughing about how the US is buying pointless crap, and how hes getting rich and giving people JDM colds all at the same time (JDM bacteria and germs
)
</sarcasim>
i have always like the itr forum b/c it centralized in ugrading the prerformance of your cars not installing pointless *** crap (just my opinion). dont get me wrong i like the look of some JDM and could see buying some of it but i must draw the line somwhere, when people start buying JDM window switches u know it has gone to far.
JDM soon to be the NEXT APC ?!?
i guess we will havet to wait and see.

I dremeled the JDM driver's side carbon plate to accomodate the USDM Pwr wind. swt and also drill one extra mount hole for the third post on the swt. </TD></TR></TABLE>
I'm going to attempt this method as soon as my switches come in from Japan.

Yeah, the other good writeup doesn't have pictures anymore. I'm bored and want to try it out. Perhaps make another writeup.

Did the UK spec Rs come with these? If not, these JDM switches are plug and play with the UK Rs.

My usdm switch broke and it was half as expensive to order these jdm switches then it was to buy new ones from the dealership. I too also just changed the wiring at the plug (behind switch) to get auto rollup to work on the jdm switch correctly.
I just got my two USDM main switches in. Waiting to get my two JDM sets in about 2 weeks. From the looks of it, modifying the JDM plate doesn't look all too difficult.
But damn, the JDM ones look like they are in very good condition (no button wear) compared to the USDM ones. I think I'll need to switch the buttons. Damn Americans, use more AC and stop rolling your windows down.
