well to those of u who read this.. and to those of u who driven, rode-in, or own a GSR with a SkUnK2 IM.. have you experienced any problems with noise??? such as a loud whistling sound under load?? i know most hondas and acuras with aftermarket intakes.. make a little bit of a whistling.. but my GSR.. right after i installed the SkUnK2 IM.. it just whistles annoyingly underload.. as long as im under load it whistles.. anybody ever experienced this? and if u have.. have u ever found a way to get rid of it?? i cant stand it no mo.. it was cool at first.. sound kinda like a S/C winding up.. btw if it matters i have a AEM type r CAI on it.. but i also tried other intakes..

 

maybe its just sucking in a lot of air ?

 

if it's really bad, then it's either your cai or you don't have the lines connected correctly.

I have a feeling it's normal though.

 

most of the cars i hear whistling is cars with intakes but no exhaust.. maybe the exhaust sound drowns it out but.. its normal i think its the filter itself

 

mine only whissles under part throttle, which it already did with the CAI. the only sound that the IM added, was a deeper growling noise from the intake at WOT.

 

No whistles here... 3" short ram intake, going to overbored throttle body to 64mm match the skunk2...

 

Its normal. Try putting your stock intake back on i fu want the sound to go away

 

thanks for your guys input... i dont think its normal.. i hope its not normal.. if it is then.. damn that sucks.. its annoying.. yeah.. it does only whistle under part throttle.. say, your just cruising up a hill.. part throttle.. slight load.. it will whistle all the way up the damn hill.. but if i press the pedal more than halfway it will grunt and the whistle is gone.. so it only happens under part throttle.. like as if your tryin to pick up just a little bit of speed.. sucks!! oh yeah its a 94 GSR skunk2 IM w/ AEM type r CAI.. tanabe cat-back.. and also i just got the TB bored to match the skunk2 IM.. and it still does it..

 

i know most cars with aftermarket intake has a slight whistle to it.. but it only whistle for a split second.. i understand thats normal.. but for my situation as long as im part throttle it will whistle all the way down the street.. what the heck is that??? o well.. hopefully someone can help me out..

No noise with mine before the turbo.

 

My friend installed his and had the same problem. He had a leak between the gasket and motor I believe. He ended up having to send it back to Skunk for a replacement. Not sure on all the details, I know he got a new one but haven't talked to him since he replaced it. I'll try and find out more details today.

 

my buddy with sk2 im and i/h/e has a REALLY LOUD whistle coming out of it and it is all connected properly. i have no idea why... personally, mine doesnt whistle but i get a ticking sound from the evap sensor.... so i assume its different for each person, as strange as that may seem.

 

thanks for replying... well i dont think theres a leak bestween the IM and head.. as you were saying.. ..well if it didntthe idle be higher or wouldnt it have been surging... im also pretty sure all the vacuums.. are tight nuff.. o well.. thank for replying tho peeps...

 

my friend has the sunk 2 im in his 98 gsr and i havent heard it making any noise while driving, but does make vtec sound so much better

i think witty has it. when installed, it MAY make a little bit of whistling noise. but if you didn't seal the gasket on there well (or tried using Make-a-gasket) it WILL whistle. i know it sounds like a pain, but take the mani off and toss in another gasket. this time, make sure there's NO leftover gasket both on the head AND the mani.

yea wit my friend, his brother has a gsr. and when the vtec kicks in they call it the "end of the world". haha. never heard of whistling tho

 

I only get the whistle when i punch it.......when i'm just driving around, i just hear it sucking air. I have a 94 GSR as well w/ the skunk2 IM and bolt ons....w/ the itr 3" cai. Try checking your lines, your filter, etc. Also, slap on your stock intake and see if the sound is still there...if it is, then check all your lines, gaskets, etc.

 

even get under the hood and rev the motor. while you're doing this feel around the manifold to see if there's any leaks (between the mani and the head)

 

mine whistles A LOT at part throttle ..any time theres a load on it..except full throttle...i've narrowed it down to a cheap filter..or a worn out filter..pop off your filter and run down the road..no whistling!!!dont go to far without a filter..not the best thing to do..i found out drag racing..my cold air -filter fell off..i was like -hey it quit whistling. used to whistle a little with the gsr manifold..then A LOT with skunk2
