Azenis Tire Life?? (Searched) I know its been covered before
I know this has been covered before but found nothing. There are an assload of Azenis threads in the archives talking about different stuff.
I am buying new tires and looking for azenis. How long should I expect the life of them to be? I have stock wheels and I dont autoX or goto the track, some aggressive street driving (non street racing) just pure fun driving.
How many miles/months/years should I expect from well inflated/maintained/aligned azenis last me thanx.
I am going to be buying a set today because I need new tires.

The lifespan of any tire is totally related to how you drive and the tires application,(besides alignment and other anomalies). As well some people will run a tire till corded whereas others get frightened when they notice the wear-bars coming up.
http://www.vulcantire.com lists the Azenis sports with a tread-wear of 200 but, just as the tire is definitely Wider than other 205 series tires in that catagory so may it wear quicker than others... It's sticky and a great cheap tire IMHO.
Good luck,
A.

They are indeed short lived. I got my Type R in March and the Azenis had about 80% tread and now I need to replace them in the next month or so. I've done three autocrosses and don't drag race at all. There cheap for a reason, but they are super sticky.
I got about 12k miles out of my first set. That included about 4-5 track days and 3-4 autox. I drive slowly around town and on the freeway, so if you drive "aggressive" as you put it, they probably won't last as long.
I just finished my first set of Azenis. I drive pretty aggressively on the street (onramps and offramps) and I logged 14.5k miles on them with regular rotation. Keep in mind though, the last 2500 miles or so was driving across the country... so I doubt they would have lasted quite as long if it were still my normal driving habits.
4 track days + 2 autocrosses + 5000 street miles = Looking pretty good.
Gripping better than ever.
But, I'd say they only have 3 more track days before they are totally bald. But, according to willard, that's when they are at their best.
But anyhoo, for street driving, I would think you could get at least as many miles out of them as you could get out of the RE-010's, if not many more.

When they get to the wear bars they start getting really really greasy when they get hot. Be careful.

I wouldn't say that.
I must admit that I don't know how long the RE010 tires last. I have about 16K miles (including a couple of track events) on my original ones that came on the car, and I still have plenty of tread on them. But I would be surprised if I had gotten that many miles on a set of Azenis, based on what others have posted about them.

20K total miles
16K on RE010
2K on A032R
2K on Arctic Alpin

Depending on how you drive I guess.
I don't wear my tires much at all around town/on the highway. Yet I noticed wear very fast on my RE-010's that I do not notice on my Azenis.
For me, all that counts is that they get me to/from the track and do very admirably on the track.
As a strict street tire, my guess is as good as yours: I have no idea how long they'll actually last not counting tracking/autox time.

I did too. I only got 6.5k out of my 010's as opposed to 14.5k out of the Azenis.

Unless price is the determining factor, get something other than 205/50/ZR15 Azenis on stock wheels. Steering response sucks donkey ***** for Azenis + 6" wheels. Especially, if you're going to run at street tire pressure.
If you have 6.5" or 7" wheels, I would completely recommend it, but for 6" you'll lose some of ITR's telephatic steering response & feel.
Azenis are must have for STX, STS autoX class, but there are many other great street tires. (S-03, P-zero, MX, etc.)

im rolling in on 11K on my first set. I rotate them whenever the front feels
a bit lower than the rears... hence about every 1500mi... I am expecting
about 3-4K more... but not betting on them. making plans to buy another
set...
I drive agressively most of the time. One autoX, alot
of in town on and off ramp 3rd gear entrance/exits...

About 12,000 miles and 100 autocross runs for me, which I calculate to be about 17,500 street miles.
I got my set back in early February. So far, after just over 5000 miles, they look brand new !! Yes, I drag-race and drive "spiritedly"
It looks like I can expect about 14-16k miles off these tires. Just make sure you rotate them regularly and, most importantly, align your car.
I will DEFINITELY get another set of Azenis once these go bald.

1) Grease is a lubricant. Does comparing a tire's performance to that of a lubricant suggest that they grip well?
2) If "greasy" meant that they grip well, would a warning to "be careful" make sense?

I might test the azenis life next.. but I'm still happy with the wet weather performance of the S-03.. plus I'll probably get 40k or so out of them. (currently at 30k on two of them and close to 10k on two others because I flat spotted two of them when I was using a Civic spindle (no abs, which I forgot about )).
I bet I could get 15-20K out of the azenis, i'm just not too sure how they'll do in the rain and we get lots of f'ing rain in florida during the summer.
