B16A2 UK Timing Belt Advice
To all the American folks, i live in the UK and have a Civic VTi, known as the SIR in the USA.
Recently the bearings on the distributor seemed to be rattling, so i decided the oil the bearings. When i connected the distributor back to the engine, it was placed wrong and the timing belt slipped off the engine.
I gave the car to Honda Dealers and they put the belt back on, but when i went to collect the car they told me to change the belt soon as possible as they thought the belt came off while i was driving.
When i told them it came off because of the distributor, they then said it may be O.K and they cant be sure it wont slip. I have been driving the car now for around 2 weeks and have had no problem. Since there wasent a problem before as it was my faut it came off, will be alright to leave that on, OR to replace the belt ?

Remvoe teh valve cover and upper timing belt cover.
Check the belt for cracks, frays, sheared teeth, or unusual thrust wear while rotating the engine CCW (viewed from the pulley-side of the engine).
