BFH all you need! Since you are not going to be re-using the ball joint, hammer it out. Hit the side with the threads and push it thru. The SPC adj ball joints will slip right in with no press required.

I used a piece of exhaust tubing about 3" long. Sit the A-arm on the tubing and hammer away. The ends of the tubing need to be kinda straight and square to the side. I cut a piece with a hacksaw.

depending on the year of car you have the ball joints not be able to be hammered out. 88-89 have the BJ welding in, or soemthing. 90-91 you can press out. there is probly a big retaining clip in the threaded side you wil have to remove if you have the right year.
good luck

BINGO! you might have the right answer. i just came from the JJ and pulled a pair(L&R) a arms from a civic hb, i did forget to note what year it was. the first thing i realized was, that the ball joint looked just like the lower control arm. it was not mushrom shaped like my 88 crx was, since i did see a 88 crx hf i went back and took a look at those. they actually looked, like they were welded in place! if i could post pictures i would, if any one of you can do that for me send me an im with your email address!

go rent a ball joint press from autozone... its only 99 dollars and you get it back when you return it.
all you will need to do is press the old one out and then press the new one in, took me less than 5 minutes once the parts were off

that's what i did, i rented the tool but was unable to pop the ball joint! but now that i have the civic hb a arms, i'll be able to do it in no time! as soon as i get off my lazy ***, is just too damm hot in the garage right now!
so let me get this straight, with a camber kit for the front you have to get rid of that ball joint? are all camber kits that way, anyone have any pics of the install of a camber kit for the front?
