My Eg's carpet is old, dirty, and just does nothing for me. I've already removed my rear seats and all paneling in the rear. I'm thinking about pulling the carpet when I'm off Tuesday. I'm not really worried about the road noise since I ride with the windows down and music on anyhow.
Just would like to hear from those who have removed the carpet from their rides. Does dirt and $hit blow all around in the car since there is no carpet to hold it down? I do a lot of highway driving to work with the windows down so that's why I ask. Did you cover the ECU or anything else? I'm going to leave the center console and door panels in place.
Is it all nasty / rusty under the carpet of a 10+ year old car? I really don't want to do any painting or work to the floorboard.
PS <> I read the EH directions and I imagine it's going to be similar in an Eg. Said it shoud take about 3 hours. I don't want to take it out then find out liek things above I'm asking about and have to reinstall the nasty rug

I helped remove my friends carpet. I like it alot more. So does he. Its not that bad underneath the carpet. The only thing that makes it ugly is there is this pad, like 1.5' x 2', that is where your feat go. Its sorta ugly, i dont like it, but my friend doesnt mind. If you go to remove it, it isnt that hard, just get a heat gun and an afternoon and it should come right up, underneath is silver. So i would suggest just spray painting it whatever color your car is. It doesnt take that long to take out the carpet, like two hours at max. The trickiest part is by the doors. There are these clips that hold it down. We broke like two of them trying to figure out how to take them off. If you are just going to throw away your carpet, then just dont worry about it and break them all off, saves alot of time. Cleaning is really easy. You dont have to worry about dirt like sticking to the carpet or anything, you just get a little dirt devil or something, and it just sucks everything up. After you take the carpet out, take some sort of metal cleaner, and spray down all the metal, it gets rid of the dullness, and makes it really clean and shiny! As for the ECU, we just left it there on the side. Good luck!
i dont regret it at all!!!!! i think its cool, however i do get paranoid about someone spilling thier drink all over my ecu.
