well the car i have came with 2.25" piping all the way back, no cat, or resnator. I have what looks like a stock replacment muffler. and the exhaust sounds really buzzy at 2750-3250 RPMs, it doesn't really matter where the gas pedal is at. anything higher or lower and it sound ok not really all that loud. is it like this with everyone? or is it just me? my friend's 89 with stock exhaust (no cat) is loud like this too. i did a search and didn't find anything. just curious about what other people have noticed.

 

Heh, yeah that's kinda how mine is like. I've got a custom 2.25" exhaust with a Magnaflow muffler - the muffler is very old and doesn't 'muffle' very well at all anymore. My exhaust gets really loud and raspy at 2.5-3k rpms, then quiets down a little, then opens up again at 4k+ then just gets louder and louder. The noise depends on a lot of factors, whatever mods you have done to the engine.

However, there is no need to worry about anything, it's a normal Honda thing. Just install a resonator or something somewhere in the exhaust piping to quiet things down.

 

yeah engine is stock DPFI, custom 2.25 in piping all the way back with some stock looking muffler. i plan on doing the MPFI swap once i have injectors, i think this will just make it louder. i guess i should install a resonator and a bigger muffler

I'm not sure about rpm that low but at 4,000 @ 70 mph (zc/si hybrid tranny) it's pretty damn annoying with no radio
