It seems that I am always reading about a 1998 R being wrecked, stolen, or destroyed in some way (I know it happens to other years too, but I have a 98..)

I know there is no way to really know, but if you had to guess how many 1998 Type Rs are still alive in the US?

yeah, mine is safe and sound also.

it would help if we had an accurate number for how many were actually shipped to the US/canada.

With all of the ones that are missing, it's probably easier to count up from the ones that are still around than to count down from the missing ones


I wish they had an accurate publishing of the #'s shipped each year to each respective country....

From what I have seen it is the white ones (97/98, AUS, CAN) being crashed, and the black/yellow ones (USDM 2000/2001) being stolen.

 

I counted around 22 registered on superhonda.

There are 121 '98 ITR's registered. I wonder how many are left though! At least mine is alive and kicking.
