sup guys... here's wut happened...

"B16A in 96 EK hatch... mods: CAI & WS catback"

Today was my day off so i decided to wash my car and leave the engine bay spotless. i took off my exhuast manifold because my block was filthy with gunk all over block. i scrubed the block with Digreaser and left it spotless but i noticed that when i was rincing the block off some water went into the block since my header was off then i put the header back on and but degreaser on the rest of the engine bay and rinced it off. so now my engine bay looks great and is spotless!
About two hours past and i hoped in my hatch to go get some food and my car is now running like ****! it is not strong at all. when i shift to the next gear my car doesn't pull at all. it just seems like it stays reved up for about 2 seconds then it catches... my car was running great before i washed my engine the day before...
i have no idea wut it could be... could it be that little bit of water that leaked into the block or did i wet something i wasn't supposed to...??? no check engine light either... PLEASE HELP!!!

 

maybe check to see if your dizzy got wet

what i didnt was took off the spark plug cover and dried out all the water, then used a air hose and blew all the water out..... it ran shitty for a while(the next hour or so...) but after a while it went away....

what you can do is (if water went all the way into your motor, since your ex. mani was off) take off your spark plugs and crank the motor... if water is in your motor it was squirt out...

check were your plugs are , you may have water there

maybe some water just got on top of the piston. If you had the header off and were shotting water, depending on where the crank was water might have got on top of the pistons. I dunno but when there is water where there should be combustion = shitty performance. Just my guess.

pretty sure water got into the spark plugs, it happened to me too. ran like **** until it dried up. everytime i hose down the engine i wrap the "dizzy" with a plastic bag and plug up the spark plug area with rags/shop towels creating a tampon effect" works good for me.

 

Take the distributor cap off and clean the rotor and the tips on the distributor. Put it on and fire it up. Same thing happen to my car.

he fixed it guys but thanx for helpin my buddy out! he just had to let the car run for a while so all of the water would evaporate...

quick question about engine cleaning: i'm assuming you guys unhook battery before cleaning, but can you actually use degreaser onto the battery itself.. i guess just the question alone indicates how dirty my engine bay is..
